Job Description

The Sr Manager, Clinical Vendor Management is a core member of the Strategic Operational Performance and Outsourcing (SOPO) Vendor Management team who has primary accountability within the team for supporting oversight of vendor performance. Assuming the role of Vendor Ambassador for assigned key vendors and leads cross functional teams with efficient onboarding of clinical trial vendor services to support rapid study start up. The Vendor Ambassador is a primary strategic point of contact at Biogen for a Vendor Relationship ensuring appropriate oversight of the contracted terms and ensuring function specific sponsor oversight is practiced over the lifecycle of the relationship. The role collaborates with key stakeholders within Quantitative Sciences and Development Operations (QSDO) to develop KPI data and other performance measures to assess vendor performance. Engages functional SMEs, strategic CRO partners and vendors directly to drive efficiency and process improvements in the delivery of services.

What You’ll Do

Serve as Vendor Ambassador for assigned vendors, ensuring right sized oversight and governance plans are in place. Optimizing vendor management activities managed by CRO Strategic Partners.

  • Co-chair governance meetings with vendors, meeting stakeholder business needs and driving vendor deliverables across the portfolio.
  • Accountable as the Biogen point of contact at the vendor relationship level for streamlined communication and support.

• Provides oversight of third-party vendor activities & support to study management teams and other functions as required to oversee operational end-to-end vendor escalation and mitigation of key vendor issues/challenges.

• Supports department oversight strategies which include status of vendor deliverables and third-party vendor metrics data. Supports R&D processes as they relate to Vendor Operational qualification/documentation, Vendor Performance Management and support of Vendor audit and inspection activities.

• Collaborate on department process improvements and templates. Manages projects and initiatives as requested by Biogen, including those as they relate to vendor governance activities.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • A minimum of eight years working in the biotech, medical device, and/or pharmaceutical industry
  • Deep understanding of GCP
  • Previous strategic relationship management with clinical trial vendors (1-2 years minimum)
  • Excellent multi-level, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple vendor services and processes simultaneously with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated risk management, mitigation and problem-solving within the management of clinical trial vendors
  • Proven negotiation and organizational skills
  • Self-motivator
  • Dedication to quality in all work tasks and deliverables

Preferred Skills

  • Strategic relationship management work with CROs and clinical vendors is preferred.
  • Working in a global/cross cultural setting is preferred with ability to work effectively in cross functional and global teams.
