About This Role

Biogen is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department at our Kendall Square site in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The role requires hands-on experience in conducting in-vivo studies in rodents, and basic familiarity with the concepts of pharmacokinetics (PK). The ideal candidate will not only conduct PK studies in nonclinical models but will also conduct animal surgeries when necessary.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct rodent PK studies with diverse modalities such as small molecule compounds, monoclonal antibodies, and gene therapy medicinal products.
  • Dosing in mice and rats via the routes including but not limited to IV, PO, SC, IP, IT, and ICV.
  • Rodent sample collection including but not limited to plasma, serum, urine, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), brain, spinal cord, and other tissues
  • Interface with Biogen institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC) to write and update experimental protocols
  • Additional opportunities for development will be provided such as interacting with CROs, contributing to scientific publications, evaluating emerging in-vivo technologies and interfacing with project teams.

Who You Are

You enjoy performing in vivo studies in rodents, work collaboratively with peers and are motivated to learn novel in vivo techniques and skills.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field. BS w/ 2-4 years’ experience OR MS w/ 0-2 years’ experience.
  • Hands-on experience in conducting rodent in-vivo studies on a regular basis.
  • Hands-on experience with dosing mice and rats via the routes including but not limited to IV, PO, SC, IP, IT, and ICV.
  • Hands-on experience with rodent sample collection including but not limited to plasma, serum, urine, CSF, brain, spinal cord, and other tissues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with non-conventional in vivo PK studies such as studies with bile duct cannulated rats or with portal vein cannulated rats.
  • Hands-on experience and expertise in animal surgeries.
