About This Role:

As a pivotal leader within Biogen, the Senior Medical Director, Clinical Development and Movement Disorders Lead will spearhead clinical development strategies and provide medical expertise across our movement disorders portfolio, including business development with a focus on the future portfolio. This role is situated within the Therapeutics Development Unit (TDU) and directly reports to the Head of TDU, a role that reports to the Head of Development. You will be responsible for guiding our dedicated team of medical professionals and clinical scientists, shaping the clinical development plans, and driving forward the movement disorder drug development programs and strategy from early-stage research to market as well as providing input to the broader TDU strategy. Your expertise in neurology drug development, especially within the realm of movement disorders, will be instrumental in delivering groundbreaking therapies that address unmet patient needs. You will be a member of the TDU Leadership Team and the Extended Development Leadership Team. This highly collaborative role involves representing clinical development and engaging with key stakeholders within development and across multiple disciplines within Biogen and with external partners to realize our vision of transforming patient lives.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead clinical development strategy and provide key strategic input for business development strategy and deliverables for movement disorders therapeutic area.
  • Model leadership to broader TDU team and actively contribute to TDU Leadership activities and strategy
  • Mentor and manage a team of medical directors and clinical scientists.
  • Participate and/or lead cross -TDU, -DUs and -Development initiatives to achieve goals. drive performance, and optimize individual and team health.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive clinical plans and regulatory strategies.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including medical experts and regulatory authorities.
  • Represent Biogen in scientific, clinical, and business development forums.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on clinical and commercial objectives.
  • Utilize your neurology drug development expertise, particularly in movement disorders, to advance our portfolio.

Who You Are:

You are a neurology drug developer at heart, passionate about clinical development, with a focus on making strides in movement disorders. Your leadership in neurology drug development, reinforced by your experience or specialized training in movement disorders, positions you to make significant contributions to our team and patients' lives.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • MD required (neurology specialty preferred)
  • Proven track record in neurology drug development
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in clinical research with industry experience
  • Experience in movement disorders or specialized training in this area is highly desired
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
  • Strategic thinker with a clear vision for clinical development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Board-certified Neurologist
  • Movement Disorders fellowship training
