About This Role
The Senior Manager, SMA Consumer Marketing is an exciting opportunity to join Biogen’s dynamic and high-growth Rare Disease Franchise. In this role, you will define the patient engagement strategy in a rapidly evolving therapeutic area with high unmet need, Spinal Muscular Atrophy(SMA). Working with key cross-functional and agency partners, the Senior Manager will join the SMA Marketing Team and will be responsible for developing and executing tactics to advance patient and community engagement. In addition, this individual will play a critical role in ensuring the patient voice is heard as the brand enters potential launch of new dosing.

- Lead the development of strategies, messaging, and creative assets for patients and caregivers that deliver against overall business objectives, including but not limited to: brochures/leave behinds, patient educational events, ad boards, social/media ads, videos, etc.
- Lead the Patient Ambassador Programs—including content development, event scheduling/execution, and Congress engagements—maintaining a tight partnership with Patient Advocacy, the Family Access Manager (FAM) Team, and Program Ops to ensure seamless execution
- Translate complex scientific ideas (RWE, CFL) to a consumer audience and work successfully with the Promotional Review Committee (PRC) to ensure win-win outcomes and maximum impact for patients
- Identify opportunities for synergies across Rare portfolio brands, and work with the Family Access Manager (FAM) Team and Patient Services to drive a best-in-class patient experience, including leading field advisory teams for feedback on potential initiatives
- Maintain strong relationships with cross-functional partners (e.g., Patient Advocacy, Corporate Affairs, Field, Medical, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Finance)
- Prioritize and lead multiple projects, and effectively influence, collaborate, and communicate with internal and external partners to advance brand objectives
- Manage agency spend and overall brand resources effectively, ensure accountability for timelines and overall project deliverables, and proactively communicate issues early
- Contribute to the Annual Stakeholder Engagement Plan, Brand Plan, Annual Operating Plan, and more, and collaborate (as appropriate) with Medical and Global
- Identify opportunities for synergies in customer delivery and field support across Patient and HCP Teams, and work as a link between functions to ensure seamless execution
- Ensure the patient voice is represented for launch activities, and develop the accompanying patient engagement strategy, supporting Launch Meetings, and commissioning marketing research and/or Patient Ad Boards, as appropriate

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
- 5+ years pharma or biotech commercial experience; minimum 2 years marketing
- Experience managing external vendors and effective budget management
- Excellent communication/coordination/interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively write and deliver presentations to senior management and customers.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
- Ability to think innovatively in terms of engaging with customers and meeting their needs
- Optimistic and adaptable, you will find a way forward and keep your team and your partners focused on the bigger picture
Preferred Skills:
- Consumer marketing experience preferred
- Prior launch experience preferred
- Rare Disease experience preferred
