Job Description
- Execute the production of AAV in adherent and suspension mammalian systems.
- Execute validated protocols for the purification of AAV preps (ultracentrifugation or chromatography based) and perform characterization using standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.
- Support process development for the refinement of the existing upstream and downstream SOPs.
- Manage CROs (Contract Research Organizations) for external AAV vector production.
Maintain accurate laboratory records, present data to the team and coauthor internal reports and scientific communications.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Employer will accept a Master of Science degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Sr. Associate Scientist, Gene Therapy-related occupation. Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor of Science degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a Sr. Associate Scientist, Gene Therapy-related occupation.

Position requires 24 months of experience in the following:
- Demonstrated strong proficiency with general molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, including at least three of the following: cloning, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, RNA analysis, WB, or ELISA.
- Demonstrated extensive experience with AAV or recombinant protein production in adherent mammalian cells (bench scale).
- Demonstrated experience with AAV/recombinant protein production in suspension cell lines.
- Hands on experience with chromatography and/or AKTA systems.
Demonstrated proficiency with large scale (5-10L) plasmid DNA purification and troubleshooting.
