About This Role
The Manager, Strategic Sourcing, Business Travel & Fleet will manage aspects of the category management within Biogen’s Business Travel and Fleet category. This role will understand the priorities and needs for Biogen’s Business Travel and Fleet category and will make recommendations to leadership from a customer standpoint, by aggregating the voice of the internal customer.  The Manager, Strategic Sourcing will also identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with stakeholders. This role reports to Associate Director, Business Travel and Fleet Category Leader.

•    Leads subcategories within Biogen’s Business Travel and Fleet category to develop and implement sub-category strategies for:
             o    Air Travel
             o    Fleet Management
             o    Auto 
             o    Rail
             o    Travel Management Company
             o    Corporate Credit Cards
•    Support globalization of processes to drive efficiency, leverage, and savings
•    Work with cross-functional teams using spend data analytics, market research and cost modeling to identify and leverage high value opportunities that deliver innovative and sustainable value, operational efficiencies and risk mitigation to the business
•    Partners with stakeholders and builds relationships that facilitate the realization of business value and savings 
•   Continually explores opportunities for improvement in each category 
•   Continually monitors the market to understand leading best practices and changes in the industry landscape

Sourcing:
•    Develops and implements sourcing, negotiating and contracting strategies to achieve category goals 
•    Develops strategy for Catalogs, Guided Buying, and Sourcing Playbook development
•    Ensures efficiency of events through appropriate use of buying channels, catalogs, and RFx events and champions ongoing continuous improvement.  

Supplier Management:
•    Responsible for supplier management activities, ensuring the appropriate level of oversight, direction and development based on the defined criteria
•    Serves as a supplier relationship manager for key suppliers 
•    Responsible for executing supplier evaluations including understanding capabilities and risk prior to and during the relationship

Stakeholder Management:
•    Partners with the business stakeholders at appropriate levels for the respective category and facilitates resolution and communication of all other procurement activities

Qualifications

Who You Are

You are knowledgeable in the business travel space related to procurement of services, sourcing events, contracts, and negotiations.   You love working with data and using analytics to tell a story. You enjoy collaborating with diverse subject-matter experts to develop process improvements and evolve category strategies to best in class to meet critical business requirements.   

•    5 years of experience in a related field. Experience with sourcing for travel and fleet is a plus
•    Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
•    Strong analytical skills which provide insights and formulate recommendations using data driven solutions.
•    Ability to effectively collaborate, build relationships and influence peers and key stakeholders
•    Ability to deal with change and ambiguity effectively
•    Project management skills with ability to plan tasks, assign resources, manage progress, remove barriers, manage change and resolve conflict 
•    Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience. Can present information in a clear and concise manner
•    Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environment
•    Ability to identify process improvements and offer cost savings solutions

Education: 
•    University degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required
