About This Role
As the Lifecycle Management (LCM) & Competitive Strategy Lead, Nephrology you will lead the LCM and Competitive Readiness teams, sub teams of the Nephrology Product Development and Commercialization (PDC) team, as the single point of accountability to drive long term success of Biogen’s asset in development across multiple Nephrology indications through focused efforts on LCM and competitive readiness.
You will be accountable for leading an integrated cross-functional team to develop and execute the LCM and competitive readiness strategy and its associated annual operating plan, along with strategic priorities to enable sustainable market growth for the Biogen’s asset in development across multiple Nephrology indications across the globe.

What You’ll Do
- Lead the cross functional team and serve as the single point of accountability to develop and execute on the LCM and competitive strategy for Biogen’s asset in development across multiple Nephrology indications. For example, the development and implementation of competitive readiness plans, new indications, formulations, novel biomarkers and other drivers of near- and longer-term growth
- Develop compelling business cases and engage cross-functional experts to develop recommendations for PDC endorsement from executive management
- Coordinate with PDC Lead and Commercial Leads for other indications to ensure maximization of the overall value of the asset
- Collaborate with regional and affiliate colleagues to support the vision and strategy to effectively ensure launch and patient access to this important therapy in markets across the globe.
- Accountable for comprehensive assessment of competition and identification of opportunities to guide/refine the global LCM strategy amidst rapidly changing market dynamics and competitive landscape
- Partner with Global Finance to develop long range plans, annual operating plans, and assess business opportunities
- Engage with key external stakeholders to bring in an outside-in perspective on the plans under consideration to ensure they serve their needs
- Lead coordination with Competitive Intelligence and other cross-functional teams to shape competitive strategy and ensure organizational readiness rooted in deep understanding of the external competitive environment and internal product/portfolio strategies
Who You Are
You are a highly collaborative leader, with strong strategic competence, financial acumen and vision to succeed in a fast paced and complex environment. You have experience leading diverse cross-functional teams across Research, Development, Regulatory, Clinical Operations, Biomarkers, Medical, Value and Access and Corporate Affairs functions etc. and ability to influence without direct line of authority. You have demonstrated expertise in engaging with key medical experts, patient advocacy organizations, public policy makers, and investors to integrate these perspectives into LCM strategy. You have strong leadership, planning and organization, analytics, decision making and problem-solving skills and are adept at executive communication and business case development to drive data-based decision making. You have a strong track record of executing LCM and competitive strategies to support asset growth goals.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech industry; rare disease, LCM and consulting experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred
- Commercial global or affiliate experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, navigate in ambiguity and deliver results
- Experience working directly with or in the R&D function
- Experience with entrepreneurial operating environments
- Robust scientific understanding w/ ability to extract insights for competitive differentiation and strategic planning
- Advanced analytical competencies; ability to develop business cases for investment
