About This Role 

Biogen is seeking an experienced compliance business professional to support the company’s US commercial business located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  This individual will be a member of the US business leadership team and the primary corporate compliance partner to regional commercial management and employees.  This individual will also provide managerial oversight to a team of 3 to 4 Compliance professionals.  Reports directly into the Global Chief Compliance Officer.

What You’ll Do:

  • Advise US commercial leadership on compliance risk management and participate in US Compliance Committees and management meetings.
  • Design and implement risk-based compliance training plans, and develop and deliver impactful compliance training to employees.
  • Conduct an annual risk assessment, develop monitoring plans, and provide reports on findings and trends to US leadership.
  • Leverage technology to identify areas of concern and advise on remediation execution.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are current, accessible, and clearly communicated, and draft new standards as needed.
  • Oversee compliance-related investigations, advise on remediation, and administer corrective action.
  • Raise awareness about compliance and communicate with all US organization employees, including planning compliance “open calls.”
  • Lead and mentor local US compliance officers and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Maintain key compliance records and manage other projects and activities as assigned.

Who You Are:
You are a seasoned professional with a robust background in compliance within the healthcare sector. Your communication skills are exceptional, allowing you to navigate complex discussions with ease and clarity. You thrive in leadership roles, confidently managing teams and inspiring others through your mentorship. Your keen understanding of the pharmaceutical industry's legal landscape equips you to make informed decisions that align with our high ethical standards. You are process-oriented, collaborative by nature, and always seeking innovative ways to enhance business processes through technology.

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, including corporate compliance experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree reqired, JD strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry laws, guidelines, and codes.
  • Proven track record of excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Previous experience in people management and working effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Proficiency in managing complex projects and overseeing external vendors.
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing new technologies to identify various categories of business risk.
  • A business-focused, collaborative, and process-oriented approach to work.
