Job Description

This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2025. Resume review begins in January 2025. 

Here in Analytical Development - Structure elucidation (AD-SE) team, we support the development of small molecule and oligonucleotide therapeutics by developing innovative analytical technologies and establishing control strategies. We are seeking a highly creative and self-motivated candidate to join us as an intern student in 2025. This role will develop and optimize analytical methods on the UPLC-High Resolution MS system in the lab in RTP, NC campus. This role will also support oligonucleotide stability study using the mass spectrometry-based methods. This position requires adequate knowledge in analytical techniques such as LC and LC/MS.

Position Description 

  • Design, execute and document experiments; analyze, interpret and present data/results; write technical reports; establish SOPs, etc. 
  • Develop and optimize analytical methods on the UPLC-High Resolution MS system. 
  • Test and analyze stability samples using mass spectrometry-based methods. 
  • Characterize degradation pathway of oligonucleotide.  
  • Attend relevant meetings and seminars to learn the development of therapeutic oligonucleotide. 

Qualifications

  • Laboratory experience is required, and knowledge of oligonucleotide chemistry and characterization is highly desired 
  • Hands-on experience in chemical analysis by mass spectrometry and/or LC-MS 

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date 
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university 

Education 

  • Students pursuing MS or PhD in analytical chemistry are preferred. Candidates in chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical science are also considered.

  • This role is on-site in Research Triangle Park, NC.
