About This Role

The Executive Director, Global Value and Access (V&A) Value Evidence Strategy (VES) Head, will lead the value evidence strategy team responsible for value demonstration across Biogen's portfolio.  This role is responsible for leading the HEOR development and execution of the global evidence teams, engaging closely with and guiding the product development teams across our pipeline, supporting our regions and affiliates, as well as leading our V&A engagement with external stakeholders on evidence and access.   This includes, but is not limited to, integrated evidence planning across programs, HTA strategy development and modeling.   This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Global Value, Access, Public Policy and Government Affairs.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development, management and execution of the Global Value Evidence Strategy Team
  • Leverage and influence interaction with R&D, Product Development and Commercialization teams, and regional Market Access Networks, to ensure coordinated execution of evidence strategies to support patient access strategies and shared learning
  • Provide overall strategic direction to the product development and commercialization teams with respect product development and life cycle planning 
  • Develop, coordinate and communicate long range Value and Access strategies and road maps
  • Ensure a productive relationship and integration with other functions in order to elevate VES amongst the Biogen cross-functional teams
  • Communicate both verbally and written with the Executive Committee and senior leaders about complex aspects related to the VES team and value demonstration
  • Accountable for the dissemination of leading value and access related methodologies across the various Value and Access related cross-functions and key stakeholders
  • Drive, mentor and support high standards of focus on growth opportunities for individual and team accomplishment, while developing talent and bringing confidence to the team.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical and law requirements, seeking strategic support when required
  • Effectively manage annual budget for workforce and external spend for entire VES team, establishing close connection with finance to resource appropriately
  • Represent Biogen at scientific and technical external events, fostering collaborations with local academic institutions, policy leaders, and researchers to further establish Biogen’s external leadership

Who You Are

A highly motivated, agile and hands-on evidence and market access leader with a deep understanding of key healthcare systems that enjoys working in a global matrix organization.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in a Pharmaceutical/Biotech 
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate broader product and company goals into payer strategies (e.g., overall Commercial objectives, evidence requirements, physician, and patient perspectives)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of global healthcare systems and pricing and reimbursement requirements, and ability to tailor strategies to a diverse set of market types including US, EU and emerging markets
  • Ability to triage strategically, innovatively while making sound evidence recommendations to executive team and senior Leadership
  • Outstanding communication, diplomatic and presentation skills both oral and written, including ability to effectively deliver to the Executive Committee and Senior Leaders about complex aspects related to evidence generation and value demonstration
  • Prior experience of people and team management is required
  • Ability to travel as needed; up to 25%

Preferred Skills

  • Practical hands-on experience with data generation and analytics 
  • Experience in Affiliate and global level HEOR or value demonstration functions 

Education

  • Master's and/or doctorate in related economic, scientific or business discipline preferred
