Job Description

The General Manager (GM) is the most senior leadership position in the Benelux cluster, responsible for ensuring the long-term success of the business. This includes overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and all relevant laws and regulations. As the local representative of Biogen, the GM plays a key role in strengthening Biogen’s corporate brand and adhering to the company’s GM Accountability Model.

In this role, the GM holds both legal and financial responsibilities, ensuring full compliance with Biogen’s internal policies and external regulations. Additionally, the GM is responsible for aligning and driving key priorities related to people, workplace, and site management across the diverse Benelux cluster and international teams.

What You’ll Do:

As GM, your primary responsibility is to lead the team to achieve performance targets in a legal and compliant manner while serving as the company’s main legal representative in the region. You are ultimately accountable for all business decisions made within the Benelux cluster.

You will be measured on 3 main metrics:

  • Contribution and P&L Management
  • Compliance and Ethical Business Execution
  • Culture and Organizational Effectiveness

The GM will also lead and take part in cross-functional projects at both local or international levels, ensuring timelines and deliverables.  Additionally, the GM is responsible for ensuring that best business practices are shared within the global organization - targeting excellence in execution and fast decision making following compliance principles and requirements.

A visionary leader with a proven track record in pharma/biotech, skilled in strategic decision-making and conflict resolution. You excel in dynamic environments, motivating teams, and fostering an inclusive, speak-up culture. With strong customer focus and curiosity, you continuously seek growth and innovation.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15+ years’ experience in commercial and/or other management roles in pharmaceuticals/biotechnology, of which P&L experience of at least 5 years, preferably experience in a GM role previously.
  • A proven track record of successfully managing and developing teams for high performance.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of all aspects of product commercialization with strong scientific orientation, as well as successful product launches.
  • Proven on the ground experience in the market is key, as well as knowledge of the market, regulatory, compliance and healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of specialty pharmaceuticals in complex healthcare systems.
  • University Degree in economics, medicine or a life science related discipline preferred.
  • Fluent in English and at least one of the local languages in the Cluster.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at senior executive level.
