About the Role 

To support value creation, we established a Global Product Development and Commercialization (PDC) Team. Having made the first approved treatment for FA available in the US, Germany and more than 20 further countries to date, PDC priorities include geographic expansion and launch in collaboration with the affiliates/regions, executing a robust evidence generation plan and life-cycle management (LCM).

The role of this Director, LCM Strategy is to work across Research, Development, Regulatory, Clinical Operations, Biomarkers, Medical, Corporate Affairs and Regions as part of the PDC team. The LCM Strategy Lead will operate with senior leaders in each key PDC function and help to facilitate therapeutic area and asset growth in this highly matrixed environment. The role is based in Biogen’s Global HQ in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  

What You’ll Do  

  • Execute and evolve the disease area and asset strategy, for example the development and implementation of a Pediatric Program, new formulations, novel biomarkers, evidence generation, explore new indications, and other drivers of near- and longer-term growth   

  • Develop a global KME management plan that expands PDC engagement for LCM feedback beyond the core group of experts the regions depend upon  

  • Lead PDC strategic team to define the external communications strategy for FA, based on 360-degree view of the competitive landscape. Triage externally generated data for internal communication and guidance  

  • Develop compelling business cases and engage cross-functional experts to develop investment recommendations for executive management endorsement  

  • Drive the Disease Area Strategic Plan and Long-Range Forecast processes  

Who You Are  

You are a leader, a strategic thinker with the energy and vision to succeed in a fast paced and complex environment. You have experience and are passionate about driving positive change for patient with rare diseases. Based on your strong expertise in either R&D, business development, commercial or corporate strategy, your are used to drive and lead cross-functional collaboration at all levels and to influence and guide senior stakeholders. 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in pharma, biotech or consulting
  • Rare disease experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, navigate in ambiguity and deliver results
  • Strong track record of executing LCM strategies to support asset growth goals
  • Robust scientific understanding. Strong knowledge of clinical trial design and regulatory engagement preferred
  • Ability to extract insights for competitive differentiation and strategic planning
  • Advanced analytical competencies; ability to develop business cases for investment
