Job Description

This application is for a 6-month student role from January - June 2025. Resume review begins in October 2024. 

The North American Commercial Finance Team is an integral part of ensuring the support and growth of the North American affiliate and Biogen as a whole.  This team partners within Finance, the Commercial Business, and Support Functions across Biogen to assure accurate reporting and forecasting of financial data, advise on strategic decisions, evaluate trends to identify risks and opportunities.  

Position Description 

As a co-op, you will: 

  • Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports, analyzing trends and assessing the financial health of business areas. 
  • Consolidating information and training commercial partners on financial, accounting, and procurement processes related to expense management process (reporting, forecasting, etc.)  
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned to support Biogen North America Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team and relevant business partners

Example projects may include: 

  • Analyze financial data and provide forecasting support for departmental budgets 
  • Prepare training materials for business partners on financial processes  
  • Evaluate current and previous financial data and present findings to Head of FP&A, Head of Finance, Department Leaders, President’s Office, etc.  

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of financial analysis, reporting standards, and strategy 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills 
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) 
  • Analytical skills 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Interpersonal skills 

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date 
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university 

 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field.
