As an Associate Medical Director focused on Epilepsy and Neurodevelopment, you will provide medical and strategic leadership for clinical programs in areas with significant unmet needs. This vital role entails advancing translational programs, particularly in rare diseases, through innovative clinical study design, execution, and comprehensive data interpretation. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, interfacing with management, medical community stakeholders, and global regulatory authorities. Your contributions will directly influence research-to-development decision-making, aligning with Biogen's commitment to transformative interventions. Situated at the crossroads of clinical science and strategic planning, you will be integral to shaping the future of Biogen's impact in neuroscience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead medical and strategic planning for neurodevelopment and epilepsy programs
  • Collaborate with biologists and pre-clinical scientists to prioritize targets and inform clinical plans
  • Integrate scientific rationale and regulatory requirements into the Integrated Development Plan (IDP)
  • Design proof-of-concept studies with clear hypotheses and aggressive development timelines
  • Foster relationships with Commercial, Research, Regulatory, Clinical Operations, Drug Safety, and Statistics teams
  • Promote a productive and respectful team culture, leading by example and influence
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and Business Development activities within Clinical Development
  • Maintain flexibility to work across different disease areas as needed
  • Travel for business needs, including site visits and scientific conferences

You are an experienced professional with a blend of clinical and translational research expertise, ready to take on a leadership role in advancing medical solutions for epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders. You thrive in a multi-disciplinary and highly matrixed environment, demonstrating excellent communication and organizational skills. As a natural leader, you navigate team dynamics with ease, fostering collaboration and driving progress through both direct leadership and influential prowess. Adaptable and analytical, you are committed to the pursuit of excellence in your field and are prepared to contribute to various strategic and developmental initiatives at Biogen.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • MD leading a clinical trial in neuroscience (subspecialty training in Genetics, Neurology, Epilepsy, and EEG preferred) or a PhD degree leading a clinical trial in neuroscience plus 3-5 years of industry experience
  • 3-5 years of clinical and/or translational research experience with a track record of independent research success
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills in a multi-disciplinary setting
  • 10-15% travel

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with global regulatory standards and clinical operations

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $170,000.00 - $285,000.00. Base salary offered is determined though an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity. 

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
