About This Role
The Associate Director, Standards and Governance will be 100% dedicated to compliance operational matters. This position will be responsible for driving governance and supporting the US Compliance Program in the Commercial organization through business partnership, data analytics, monitoring, policy management, training, and communication. This role will work across therapeutic areas within the US organization, working in close collaboration with US Compliance Officers, and report into a centralized Standards & Governance team within the US Business Intelligence & Operations function (US BIO). The successful candidate will be a passionate professional who works well with a variety of personnel at all levels and can play a critical role in supporting Biogen’s compliance program.

What You’ll Do
Conduct and Oversee Monitoring for identified activities
- Collaborate with Compliance to define specific monitoring strategies
- Partner with vendors to facilitate and support monitoring efforts
- Oversee stakeholder meals monitoring (cap, compliant entry, frequency, etc.)
- Oversee and conduct event monitoring (post event closeout, proper transfer of value documentation, etc.)
- Execute additional transactional & desktop monitoring
- Develop recommendations for additional monitoring based on industry benchmarking and internal risk assessments
- Lead implementation of agreed upon remediation actions
Faciliate key compliance communication and training efforts within the US Organization
- Partner with Compliance to develop appropriate business partner training plans and content
- Provide training and guidance to ensure adherence to the written standards
- Ensure training is deployed and monitor training records
- Develop job-aids, work instructions, etc.
- Provide ad hoc training to address and prevent monitoring findings
- Ensure compliance messaging is brought through USO communication plans and platforms in partnership with Compliance
Lead operational efforts to help ensure adherence to compliance policies
- Identify operational efficiencies to enable increased compliance to policy
- Facilite quarterly business reviews with centralized engagement operations function
- Conduct periodic reviews with Compliance to share findings and develop actionable plans
- Facilitate the implementation and understanding of new processes and tools
Partner with Corporate Compliance and Global Standards and Governance to ensure US input and pull through on initiatives
- Participate in, and support, global compliance operational improvement projects
- In consultation with US Compliance, provide requirements for global initiatives
- Partner with o-US Standards & Governance teams for knowledge sharing and to leverage best practices
Partner closely within US Business Intelligence & Operations to identify opportunities for process improvement to support compliance and business goals

Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in work experience
- 10-12 years of experience in compliance operations or a similar role in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
- Knowledge of US Pharma/Biotech compliance requirements (e.g., PhRMA Code, Sunshine Act, State Laws, etc.)
- Strong understanding of commercial pharma/biotech business functions & processes
- Ability to understand and optimize internal processes
- Data driven and strong attention to detail
- Experience with policy and procedure drafting and management
- Strong process management, project/program management skills
- Excellent and professional communication skills
- Ethical and integrity-driven approach and objectivity
- Outstanding team player
Preferred Skills
- Experience with compliance data monitoring tools
Additional Information
The base salary range for this position is $152,000 - $209,000. Base salary offered is determined though an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity. Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
