About This Role:
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Scientific Communications to join our Global Scientific Capabilities team within Medical Affairs. In this role, you will lead the strategic planning and execution of high-quality scientific communication initiatives, including publications and medical communications, in support of a pipeline immunology program. Strong leadership and analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to manage multiple projects are essential. Significant experience working in immunology/autoimmune diseases is preferred; experience working with external collaborations is a plus.

- Collaborate with the Global Medical Director to develop the overall scientific communications strategy.
- Oversee the planning and development of high-quality publications and medical communications.
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining focus on quality and deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with Biogen SOPs and relevant guidelines, such as GPP 2022.
- Manage external vendors to ensure cost-effective development of materials aligned with strategic objectives.
- Ensure that submitted materials are accurate, compliant, and of the highest quality.
Who You Are:
You are a strategic partner with a strong understanding of the relationships between Worldwide Medical and other departments, including Clinical, Commercial, Legal, and Regulatory. You excel at developing collaborative relationships with colleagues and are independent, results-oriented, and hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD preferred) with a minimum of 4-5 years of professional experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of Scientific Communications experience.
- Prior experience leading a high-performing publication team.
- Strong understanding of GPP and other applicable industry guidelines; CMPP certification is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to incorporate feedback from diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to scientific meetings as necessary (up to 10%).
- Outstanding planning and organizational skills; adept at balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with cross-functional partners and external thought leaders.
Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is $147,000 - $245,000. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
