About This Role

The Associate Director, US SMA HCP Marketing, will be a critical role and visible leader within the US Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Marketing Team, part of the Biogen Rare Diseases Organization. Reporting to the US SMA Brand Lead, this position will focus on professional promotion and is responsible for shaping the HCP marketing strategy across multiple channels, including personal, non-personal, media, peer-to-peer and congress engagements. Overseeing campaign development, messaging, and field team rollout, this role will drive professional education in a competitive environment and evolving SMA market.

What You’ll Do

  • Work cross-functionally to solicit input to develop the Annual Brand Plan, HCP Engagement Plan and support the budget allocation process; identify expert external partners to execute key solutions to enhance HCP education; and lead key LCM and launch initiatives
  • Partner with the Field, TLL and Commercial & Market Insights to develop a prioritized customer segmentation, and align marketing messages, tactics and resources against HCP segments; develop decision support tools for Field team use and work closely with the Field / Training to ensure alignment
  • Develop innovative omnichannel HCP engagement tactics to amplify Field team efforts, implement a measurement plan to monitor performance, and regularly provide recommendations to pivot as needed on based data to optimize overall impact

  • Manage multiple agencies, including creative, AOR, media, P2P; accountable for project timelines and budgets; participate in monthly budget forecasting meetings
  • Deep experience in leading the successful development and creation of HCP marketing content that simply and concisely communicates complex, scientifically nuanced concepts (including CFL data) through PRC process; oversees the pull through across multiple tactical modalities (web, iVA, RTE, HQ email, media, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with key cross-functional partners, including PRC, Legal, Compliance, Market Access, Commercial & Market Insights, Medical, TLL, Field, Global, and others, as appropriate
  • Able to prioritize and manage complex and innovative projects and establish vision and direction within a fast paced, and competitive commercial environment
  • Strong personal drive, highly collaborative, perceptive, a problem solver and exhibit strategic insight and innovative agility
  • Posses excellent communication skills that lead to proactive, clear internal and cross-collaboration communication
  • Mentor another member of the SMA HCP Marketing Team

Additionally, this role would work closely with the field teams to ensure alignment in strategies and tactic.

*This role is Hybrid based out of Cambridge, MA and requires 3 days a week onsite

Qualifications

•    7+ years of broad commercial experience, within those, 5+ years of marketing or marketing adjacent experience
•    Minimum of 3 years biotech/pharma experience, rare disease preferred
•    Vendor/agency management, including assessments and RFP decisions
•    Ability to analyze data and insight to create compelling messages
•    Must exhibit leadership skills and have an ability to influence without authority
•    Self-starter who functions well both independently and within a team

Education
•    Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred

Preferred Skills
•    Rare Disease, or Neurology a plus

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $161,000 - $222,000. Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
