About This Role: 
As an Associate Director, CMC Asset Lead, you will play a pivotal role within our Pharmaceutical Operations and Technology (PO&T) Division, leading cross-functional efforts to drive the success of clinical and commercial programs. Embedded within the Asset Development & Portfolio Management team, you will oversee the development and execution of strategic plans that integrate drug development, supply chain management, and life cycle optimization of our portfolio. This role allows you to blend strategic thinking with operational excellence, ensuring alignment across teams and delivering measurable outcomes. With end-to-end asset ownership, you’ll contribute to achieving organizational goals while advancing innovative treatments for Biogen pipeline.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Take ownership as the PO&T “asset owner,” responsible for developing a 5-year PO&T Asset Strategy and managing an 18-month rolling Tactical Plan. 

  • Lead the cross-functional PO&T Asset Team to implement the Asset Strategy and Tactical Plan effectively. 

  • Serve as the PO&T representative on R&D Program teams and Product Development and Commercialization teams, acting as a critical liaison and influencer. 

  • Resolve conflicts within the Asset Strategy, ensuring alignment and accountability across PO&T Line Functions. 

  • Manage financial aspects of the asset, including COGS, E&O, and OPEX, while collaborating on improvement tactics. 

  • Develop and advocate for business cases for key Asset initiatives, securing approval from the PO&T Governance Committee. 

  • Identify program risks and design robust risk mitigation strategies. 

  • Foster collaboration across disciplines to align PO&T efforts with broader organizational goals. 

  • Provide leadership and guidance on resource management, decision-making processes, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 10+ years of relevant experience in a matrix management setting. 

  • Prior experience in the scientific space such as process development, analytical chemistry, or similar. 

  • Strong background in healthcare, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries, with an understanding of cross-functional interdependencies. 

  • Proven matrix leadership across the full product life cycle, including CMC line functions and other matrix teams. 

  • Experience in CMC, supply chain, or LCM development from IND through NDA/BLA, along with knowledge of global registration processes. 

  • Exceptional strategic planning, organizational, and relationship-building skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence in a matrixed environment, leveraging diverse perspectives effectively. 

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, maximizing the value of Project Management functions. 

  • Proven expertise in identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies. 

  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and decision-making abilities. 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Advanced degree (MS, MBA, PhD) in a biopharmaceutical-related discipline. 

  • Advanced understanding of neurodegeneration therapeutic area. 

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $160,000 – $220,000. Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
