Job Summary
The Product Manager will be responsible for the successful development of new products within a defined timeframe through close collaboration with marketing and engineering teams in India. The candidate should have strong knowledge of business planning, product design, product specifications, product testing, regulatory approvals, manufacturing, sales & marketing activities to ensure on-time launches. This position requires good understanding of medical device industry, and it would be beneficial if the candidate has prior experience in managing medical devices projects including surgical instrumentation or medical implants.

• Develop comprehensive product plans, which includes market research, analysis of customer needs, definition of product requirements, identification of competitors, and assessment of potential markets.

• Collaborate closely with cross functional team members such as marketing, R&D, quality assurance, purchasing, finance, legal, etc., to develop strategies for product growth.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards throughout all stages of product development.
• Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and issues, and make recommendations to management regarding necessary changes or adjustments.
• Provide guidance to engineers during product development phase by reviewing designs, providing feedback, and resolving technical challenges.
• Work with external partners such as suppliers and contractors to source materials and services needed for product development.
• Manage budget and resources effectively to achieve project objectives while adhering to deadlines.
• Coordinate efforts between internal departments such as production, logistics, sales, and marketing to facilitate timely delivery of products once they are released into the market.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies related to medical device industry.
• Contribute towards continuous improvement initiatives by conducting regular reviews of processes, procedures, and performance metrics.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Life Sciences or equivalent discipline; MBA preferred but not required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in medical device industry, preferably in product management or similar role.
• Strong understanding of medical device product development process including design control, risk management, validation/verification, packaging, labeling, sterilization, manufacturing, and post-launch follow up.
• Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams across functions such as marketing, engineering, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, purchasing, finance, legal, etc.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of SAP and PLM systems preferred but not required.
• Self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Demonstrates ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines without compromising quality or accuracy.
• Travel may be required occasionally, especially during early phases of product development.
