We are looking for applicants passionate about advancing single cell research as BD Canada is seeking to add a Single Cell Multiomics Sales Specialist to its Biosciences team! The Single Cell Multiomics Sales Specialist will be responsible for carrying out sales and technical application activities for the BD Rhapsody Single Cell Multiomics (scM) platform in the assigned territory, to drive market development and revenue growth. The position will cover a territory that focuses primarily on Academia accounts within Canada but may be called on to support other types of accounts such as Government, Pharma, Biotech and Contract Research Organizations.

This 12-month contract position based in the GTA area seeks a successful candidate who is a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within larger teams to drive extraordinary results for customers using the BD Rhapsody single cell system. The position requires significant direct interaction with existing and potential customers.

Reporting to the National Sales Manager working closely with the Technical Applications Team, the BDB Single Cell Multiomics Sales Specialist will actively seek to build new business, convert competitive business, and retain/develop our large key accounts in the assigned territory with the intent of increasing our sales funnel and growing revenue The candidate selected for this role will be responsible for the sales of BD Rhapsody single cell Multiomics products by direct sales activities with the aim being to grow and develop the sales funnel and add additional revenue through sales in the assigned territory. Primary responsibilities include finding and developing new business opportunities by promoting the entire Multiomics portfolio through customer meetings, educational seminars and workshops as well as supporting customers interested in adopting the technology and conducting single cell experiments through on-site customer trainings, instrumentation, reagent, and bioinformatics workflow training. Additional responsibilities include assisting with design and execution of experimental strategies and interpretation of results.

This individual will hold responsibility for driving growth within the Canadian market through:

Sales (50%): Actively Working with Sales Team or Independently

  • Developing a target customer list
  • Customer visits and discussions on the BD Rhapsody solution with our sales team or independently to build our sales funnel
  • Early opportunity development to strengthen our sales pipeline- opportunity strategy, key presentations, demos etc.
  • RFP stage - technical responses, demos/site visits
  • Post-sales support - train customers and support system utilization (new applications, assay development and optimization, data analysis, etc.)

Marketing (10%): Actively Working with Marketing Team

  • Develop and maintain collateral (presentations/tools) for the Canadian market in conjunction with Product Manager
  • Develop and maintain competitive playbooks for solution positioning
  • KOL and reference site ownership - working with Product/Marketing managers on market development activities (Symposiums / KOL engagements / presentations)
  • Work with Global Platform teams on initiatives providing input as well as representing Canadian market needs

Applications (40%): Actively Working with Applications Team

  • Develop content on integrating ScM with flow cytometry solutions
  • Provide ScM training and support to Customers to drive proposed solutions

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet with customers to position BD Rhapsody instrument and associated consumable product solutions within the territory.
  • Ensure growth targets are met/exceeded for the territory through sales activities in line with business strategies, direct negotiation, bid/tender response completion, attendance at exhibitions, organization of on-site meetings/demonstrations and technical/application support.
  • Provide regular feedback to the business teams communicating the market opportunities and threats, and market intel.
  • Consistently demonstrate a strong understanding and execution of a proper sales process.
  • Develop and maintain adequate short/long term sales pipeline to consistently generate profitable revenue that meets/exceeds revenue targets.
  • Design and execution of experimental strategies and interpretation of results.
  • Hands on demonstration of protocols and workflows. Troubleshooting customer results.
  • Instrumentation and reagent workflow demonstrations both at our lab located in Mississauga and at customer sites.
  • Designing, planning, organizing, and performing operator trainings for new and existing customers.
  • Performing instrument validation. Reviewing operational quality of equipment, and instruction of customers in operation and maintenance of systems.
  • Scientific support in Molecular & Cell Biology and Genomics regarding operational questions from customers as well as internal peers with focus on single-cell analysis/customized library prep/assay development/project set up.
  • Providing industry-leading support for current and potential customers.
  • Provision of support at tradeshows, national and locally organized, to demonstrate the platforms and technologies and to support the local teams.
  • Maintain accurate customer contact details, marketing attributes and opportunity information in the CRM database (Salesforce).
  • Provide routine reporting regarding territory performance by driving the agenda on regular coaching calls with direct manager and technical applications and marketing team to identify resources and assistance required to meet financial goals and accelerate opportunity win rate.
  • Timely completion of expense reports and other administrative tasks
  • Focus on synergistic selling through engagement of all BDB teams
  • Create new value for our customers.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

Education and Experience :

  • PhD degree in Life Sciences, preferably Immunology or Molecular Biology/Molecular Genetics
  • 3+ years Research laboratory experience, including use of Flow Cytometry, and experience developing single cell experiments, utilizing the BD Rhapsody and single cell Multiomics data analysis.
  • Experience delivering presentations to senior scientific researchers or principal investigators.
  • Proficient with MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and Teams).

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge regarding current Multiomics and genomic applications and techniques including gene expression, NGS, sample prep/ library prep for genomic analysis, PCR, qPCR and digital PCR.
  • Familiarity with data analysis for flow cytometry and single cell workflows using software such as FlowJo, SeqGeq, R-Studio, Seven Bridges
  • Experience with cell preparations for single cell workflows
  • Knowledge/Experience in Immunology, Cancer Biology, and the use of Flow Cytometry as a sample enrichment technique desirable.
  • Must be motivated to achieve individual and team sales targets.
  • Must be a great teammate with the ability to coordinate necessary individuals from various functions such as Sales Team, Field Applications Support, Customer Service and Technical Support to achieve solution sales.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written skills.
  • Strong presentation, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to assess and respond to customer needs.
  • Experience influencing and connecting with multiple decision makers and collaborators with varying degrees of influence and personality types.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and act when limited information is available.
  • Project a professional image.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid provincial driver's license with at least 3 years of driver history and a clean driving record and meet BD's auto safety standards.
  • Willingness to travel minimum 50% (domestic).
  • Bilingual in English and French would be considered an asset.
