The primary focus of the R&D LAB Technician here at BD is to assist with the medical device packaging, process development and testing. Daily tasks would include developing, optimizing, and validating processes for creating device packaging; building units for engineering; performing tests, and gathering and analyzing data. The Lab technician will also be responsible for operating and maintaining Lab equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist with building product prototypes for engineering evaluation and testing
  • Assist in developing new processes for medical devices and packaging
  • Technical writing and documentation for instructions and test protocols
  • Reviewing and validating test methods
  • Performing tests, collecting data, and analyzing results
  • Training manufacturing and QA personnel on processes/test methods
  • Maintaining and repairing packaging equipment
  • Ordering materials and managing inventory

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-3 years of industrial experience in R&D or process development
  • Experience working in a lab environment
  • Experience utilizing, maintaining and managing Lab equipment
  • Ability to assist in executing validations
  • Proficient with full Microsoft suite (MS Windows, MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Basic math/statistics skills
  • Willing to work Onsite

Preferred Requirements:

  • Associates of Science degree in a technical discipline
  • Experience working in a highly regulated field (FDA/QSR and ISO environment)
  • Familiar with ASTM D-4169, ISO-11607.
