We are seeking a leader to take on ownership of our Software and Hardware Engineering Lab spaces as well as manage our engineering technician team. This person will manage all aspects of the engineering lab including infrastructure, equipment, test strategies, supplies, training, and safety that is necessary to support critical new product development and sustaining initiatives. The ideal candidate needs to be highly organized, passionate and collaborative. Strong attention to detail, adaptability, communication, and a willingness to work in a collaborative team environment are skills that will support a high level of success in this position.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lab Space
- Maintain the Pharmacy Automation test labs to ensure that they are orderly, safe and usable to the parties who use them.
- Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the various delivery teams which rely on lab spaces to ensure equipment is operational and accurately configured to perform the needed testing. Arrange tools, equipment, and inventory as required for optimum lab efficiency.
- Evaluate and requisition fabrication tools, prototype laboratory supplies, equipment and materials. Assist engineering leadership in developing yearly budgets.
- Maintain and implement lab initiatives through collaboration and partnership with multiple functional areas supporting the Lab Environment (DevOps, Plant IT, Security and Networking) in support of the R&D IT Development infrastructure.
- Reliability testing
- Responsible for configuring machines and subsystems to match the conditions under test.
- Assist Engineering in the creation of Product Qualification Plans (PQPs)
- Perform product and subsystem testing as specified in the PQPs
- Run software install managers to ensure smooth deployment to the factory and field.
- Detail the test results in an official report once the testing is complete
- Functional Manager for Engineering Test Technicians
- Lead the day-to-day activities of the test technicians.
- Maintain a rolling 6 months of test capacity planning for the group.
- Ensure that the test team has the skills and training to perform their tasks safely and with perfection.
- Test system maintenance
- Maintain test system inventory such that Pharmacy Automation can test new software and hardware changes against the expected configurations that will be seen in the service fleet.
- Ensure that each device is functional and at the appropriate design revision.
- Ensure that testing is performed in a safe manner.
- Ensure that all test equipment is maintained per the device's normal maintenance schedule.
- Establish procedures for maintaining HW & SW test equipment globally (maintenance, calibration & upgrades)
Experience & Education Requirements
- Four-year degree in electronics, computer science or sophisticated mechanical subject area strongly desired
- Strong IT networking skills
- Related industry/equipment/reliability laboratory experience required - robotics experience is a plus
- Strong mechanical proficiency and the ability to use tools to perform mechanical work.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage projects effectively.
- Ability to proactively connect with key partners to resolve issues and ensure the smooth operation of all lab activities in a timely manner.
- Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills (verbal, written).
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to read, use and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Demonstrated problem solving and technical capability.
- Ability to debug, solve, and repair electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to fabricate electro-mechanical prototype systems with minimal guidance using metal fabrication equipment. Ability to solder cables and printed circuit board assemblies for prototype generation would be a plus.
- Ability to work within a 5S framework and contribute to its upkeep.
- Knowledge of computer configuration and system deployment.
- Results oriented individual with great attention to detail.
- Must be a highly responsible professional who can perform work independently with little supervision.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
- Requires reading; math; weighing and/or measuring; conducting research; analyzing and drawing conclusions; developing and implementing plans, procedures, solutions
- Requires sitting, standing, and bending frequently. Stooping and kneeling occasionally.
- Ability to safely lift 45 pounds unaided.
