Reports directly to the QA Team Lead. Directly monitors, inspects, and audits the process and product for compliance to specifications, assures integrity of process control systems and detects trends in product quality where applicable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Must possess the ability to perform various testing procedures and simple statistical analysis.
  • Perform complete inspection of product prior to release according to applicable specifications within assigned Business Unit.
  • Apply appropriate statistical sampling plan.
  • Stat sample or contain all hold products as applicable per the appropriate specification requirements.
  • Record the results of inspections and audit findings on the appropriate forms and/or in the Quality Module of SAP.
  • Report all product non-conformance issues to Quality and Production Management where appropriate.
  • If an identified 'Trained' Trainer, train new hire inspectors to inspect product per the appropriate specifications and use all gauges/ equipment pertaining to Quality Assurance testing.
  • Maintains adherence to all safety, environmental and quality system standards.
  • Associates selected for the 'Floater' position must perform all functions listed above for all Business Units.
  • Floaters will be required to cover absences on their assigned shifts to ensure coverage.
  • Floaters may also be required to complete containment and/or stat sampling of products on hold to provide information to the Quality Management Team for disposition purposes.
  • Perform additional testing / inspection throughout the plant to support various validations/projects.
  • Floaters may also cover for the QA Team Lead on the shift in the event of an unplanned absence as noted below:
  • Coordinates and guides the activities of in-process inspectors on shift Works with Production Supervisors as appropriate to ensure supervision, on shift, is aware of any quality related issues.
  • Perform all other miscellaneous duties as appropriately directed by Quality Management or designate.
  • Follow all site required safety and quality policies.

Education:

  • H.S. diploma (if hired after 01-Jun-2000). Internal transfers exempted
  • WorkKeys: Applied Math (4); Locating Information (4); Observation (3); and Reading for Information (4)

Experience:

  • 6 months QA experience or exposure

Knowledge, skills, or abilities required:

  • Ability to navigate a computer in a Windows based environment.
  • Blueprint reading
  • Use of measurement devices such as Calipers, Go/No-Go Gauges, Optical Comparators, Digital Force gauges and rules.
  • An assessment will be applied to gauge proficiency of some of the above requirements.
  • No Supervision of others

Working Conditions:

  • Position is a 12-hr-day shift position

Work Environment:

  • BD is a smoke-free campus. Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy
  • False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor.
  • Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
