Job Description
The Plant Manager is responsible for leading the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic team and is fully accountable for all aspects of the plant to deliver on both short-term results and long-term sustainability. He/she will ensure that the site has the people, infrastructure and financial resources to deliver on time production of high quality products in a cost efficient fashion to customers. He/she will establish and reinforce a company culture defined by people, quality, compliance, service, cost and continuous improvement.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides leadership and sets short and long term direction to the organization to ensure business objectives are met.
- Effectively develops and communicates strategic vision to all levels in the organization to motivate and inspire the team to achieve.
- Sets clear expectations and goals and monitors progress.
- Has overall responsibility for the financial results of the plant - monitors spending, manages costs and initiates corrective actions required, reallocating resources when necessary to ensure financial objective are met.
- Selects, manages and develops a high performing team and fosters a sense of community.
- Collaborates and networks with key stakeholders and customers building sustainable relationships within and outside the plant and BD.
- Partners with functional leaders to develop relevantplant policies; and for the implementation of corporate, division and plant policies.
- Drives compliance behaviors across the organization to ensure Quality, Safety, Financial and Environmental regulations are met.
- Ensures that operations conform to FDA, federal, state, and local laws; and to company rules and regulations.
- Ensures the seamless on-loading and off-loading of products and technology into and out of the facility.
- Builds organizational capabilities and a diverse pipeline to meet current and future business needs.
- Fosters an environment of continuous improvement in the areas of cost, quality, people and service. Implements manufacturing best practices. Drives lean thinking/manufacturing concepts through all manufacturing and administrative functions.
- Ensures that all plant assets are properly managed and safeguarded.
- Directs the development of capital expenditure recommendations.
- Responsible for the development and administration of plant budgets. Responsible for inventory objectives and the accomplishment of service level goals.
- Participates as needed in due diligence activities for acquisitions of companies, product lines and new technology.
- Leads and manages long term facility plans based on the forecasted needs of the business and implements programs for ongoing updating of business plans.
- Drives value of the BD brand in the community and establishes and maintains positive community relations.
- Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of all plant functions.

Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum BS/BA. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Ten years direct leadership experience in medical device manufacturing with hands-on experience in multiple disciplines.
- Proven track record of implementing change, driving cost improvements and increasing efficiencies.
- Prior experience in a Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma environment.

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Must be able to build strong teams and provide coaching and mentoring to staff and key personnel.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong computer skills. Proficient in the use of MS Excel and MS Word.
