• Maintains a clean work area and reports any safety hazards to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
• Participates in safety programs and initiatives throughout the plant.
• Knows and observes all quality and GMP standards.
• Works efficiently and cooperates with supervision and other associates.
• Sets up, debugs, adjusts, and operates equipment within specified ranges.
• Performs changeovers on equipment.
• Performs quality inspections according to operational specifications for all operations performed.
• Possesses working knowledge of current production reporting system and how it applies to all positions.

• Performs basic preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned.
• Maintains and handles inventory as necessary.

Job Summary
The Machine Operator position reports to Section Managers in the manufacturing area of BD Plastics LLC. The primary function will be operating machines or equipment on a single shift (2nd). This position requires a person who can learn quickly and has good communication skills, as well as being able to read/write documents such as safety rules, memos, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. This individual must also have the ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously while keeping track of multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Operates machine(s) safely and efficiently
  • Observes all safety requirements during operation
  • Maintains proper documentation for area
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Cleans work area daily and maintains general housekeeping duties
  • Uses measuring devices accurately
  • Maintains accurate records and files
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor
  • Adheres to applicable FDA regulations, GMP's, ISO procedures, and other regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required
  • Must have basic computer skills and good verbal/written communication skills
  • Must have ability to read/write documents such as safety rules, memos, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly
  • Able to solve problems effectively
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and FDA regulations
  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary including weekends
