Manager, Medical Affairs BDI India/South Asia
Reporting to the Head, Medical Affairs and with joint accountability to Business Director, the Manager, Medical Affairs provides medical/scientific/clinical leadership for the BD Interventional (BDI) Business Unit in India/South Asia. Responsible and accountable for defining, developing, and implementing medical and clinical programs, including Centre of Excellence and internal training programs, along with KOL development and building KOL networks in the region.
This position would provide background, insight, counsel, and support from a base of clinical experience and medical knowledge to help ensure consistency of approach and quality deliverables. The Manager, Medical Affairs needs to have strong strategic and operational experience in evidence generation, peer-reviewed publications and public speaking/presentation, as well as external KOL engagement and alignment.

This role in close collaboration with Business , Marketing and related functions will encompass Strategic Partnerships; Relationship building & Stakeholder management; and Market shaping & access from a clinical perspective.

It is also very important for this incumbent to be a proactive contributor to the business by working closely with Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, and other functions to support innovation and growth within the Business Unit. Responsibilities may occasionally extend outside specified regions.

Manager, Medical Affairs BDI India/South Asia

Position Summary

  • Drive/influence thinking and consensus building with key thought leaders on critical interventions related to uptake of BD technologies/innovations /solutions to address the health needs and enhance access to relevant patient care.
  • Support set up of India/South Asia Center of Excellence for BD Interventional and coordinate the development and training of internal teams. Develop related content for Physician and internal team trainings.
  • Establish and maintain credible peer-to-peer scientific relationships with thought leaders and key customers
  • Constitute relevant KOL advisory boards/consensus building initiatives & related clinical strategiesas needed to support key business initiatives
  • Serve as primary resource for clinical and scientific information to external health care providers pertaining to BDI solutions
  • Develop and deliver impactful and effective clinical messaging and communications for BDI solutions.
  • Provide evidence driven clinical leadership for Guidelines Shaping, transitioning practices/influencing protocols and policy shaping.
  • Develop medical information responses and scientific communications including discussions on scientific platforms, and congress-related activities.
  • Participate in the development and writing of clinical value story, evidence generation plans, consensus documents.
  • Support and contribute to overall Clinical Strategy & Annual Strategic Plans

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen understanding of local medical practices and patient needs and derive relevant insights from it.
  • Gather customer insights and play an important role in identifying and assessing unmet needs to help inform strategy and provide medical/scientific expertise to support the development of cross-functional strategies and tactics
  • Provide timely feedback/information on emerging clinical/scientific trends to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure availability of relevant medical literature, clinical initiatives/guidelines, and industry trends and communicate this knowledge internally.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with scientific, clinical experts and business partners (associations, government, etc.) based on robust clinical/scientific data and information.
  • Provide leadership and support for development of and ensure the appropriate execution of relevant medical meetings (e.g. advisory boards, symposia, and investigator meetings).
  • Manage and support scientific exchange with health care professionals and medical societies, consistently ensuring high quality and credible initiatives in accordance with BD HCP Engagement Policies
  • Demonstrated ability to develop trust and integrity with peers, and others within Medical Affairs and commercial organizations.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance to BDs Code of Conduct, all Company policies and rules

Qualifications and Capabilities:

  • Preferably M.D. or equivalent and with ~ 7-9 years of clinical experience in or medical device industry, with preference for interventional specific experience
  • Able to work & communicate effectively in matrixed structure and across multiple cultures and geographies.
  • Able to establish rapport, value, and respect internally within a complex and highly technical environment and with KOLs and other influential stakeholders externally.
  • Able to demonstrate clinical and business acumen and maturity to effectively manage internal and external relationships and gain credibility in the role.
  • Strong personal credibility and written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-directed and entrepreneurial mindset with strong initiative; leads by example.
