Job Responsibilities
General Function
Build the BD TCI sustaining engineering team through effective selection, organizational,
and development of highly skilled engineers.
• Manage sustaining engineering projects and personnel including engineers and technicians.
Projects include, but are not limited to, supporting Peripheral IV Catheter product lines,
supply chain, and operations.
• Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate
communication, training, and education of sound quality assurance principals.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and
procedures.

• Quality systems processes: Ensure implementation of quality systems processes including
design controls and change control.
• Project planning: Ensure quality and accuracy of integrated project plans encompassing all
cross-functional activities. Engage in detailed review of cross-functional plans and be
accountable for their success.
• Project management: Ensure comprehensive and effective project plans are developed and
actively monitor progress against plans. Monitor timely delivery of all project deliverables
as specified in the plans.
• Budgeting: Develop detailed budgets in accordance with project and department plans, and
business objectives. Manage budget diligently and be accountable to perform to the budget.
• Resourcing: Align dedicated and shared resources cross-functionally to optimize and ensure
success of sustaining engineering projects.
• Technology transfer: Ensure efficient and effective transition from research to development
to manufacturing in locations throughout the world
• Process effectiveness: Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely
engagement of other parts of the company in project activities.
• Innovation: Develop and apply innovative approaches to ensure best outcomes in all aspects
of the role. Create an environment in which innovation can flourish through empowerment,
encouragement, and support.

• Associate development: Actively develop and mentor associates. Provide frequent
feedback. Be accountable for their success. Continue to raise the bar on the group and
help associates rise to expectations.

Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge
- Medical Device and/or pharmaceutical industries
- Minimum 4 years of experience directly leading product development teams
(20+ members) in a cross-functional environment - Minimum 4 years of leading teams (5+ members) performing design &
verification testing, including creation/execution of test protocols and
procedure, conducting failure investigations, performing data analyses using
MINITAB, STATISTICA, R or other statistical software. - Proven ability to recruit, build talent and nurture teams through various
milestones in a regulated environment to deliver designs on time, at cost and
with quality. - Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor teams in solid works and other
- CAD/CAE tools, expertise in DMAIC/DFSS using Stata, R, SPSS or relevant
statistical package is necessary.
- In-depth understanding of various design tools used in requirement flow-down,
tolerance analyses, loop-equations, FMEA, SPC and risk-retirement is
