BD is hiring an experienced and driven Operational Technology (OT) and Tactical Manufacturing Network Staff Engineer. The hands-on IT/OT Engineer will be responsible for implementing solutions to deliver, maintain and improve Operational Performance, Capability and Cybersecurity in our manufacturing facilities. OT Engineer will also be a team member supporting Smart Factory technology pilots and expansion plans.

Major responsibilities:

  • Ability to learn, understand and troubleshoot unique commercial and industry standard IT applications, Examples: LIMS Lab software, SQL Server databases, Codesoft product labeling, PowerBi, Apriso MES, etc. Some Custom local applications will be included, weigh scale, shipper requests, inventory, etc.
  • Working with OT Strategic Engineer on Smart Factory operations, examples include: machine data collection and Lean Mfg.
  • Assist supporting of Windows Servers for OT Applications and Compute systems
  • Assist OT Strategic Engineer with CyberSecurity vulnerabilities and incidents
  • Learn and apply the Training and Documentation that is required for BD Compliance and Best Practice management for OT systems, including Computer Systems Validation Opentext Application Lifecycle Management software and others.
  • Acts as technical resource to the plants and engineering group to support and deliver OT solutions to resolve manufacturing issues to improve OEE in all departments at Columbus West.

Essential Duties (other duties as assigned):

  • Provide first class technical support to the manufacturing enterprise, supporting plant operations and personnel to ensure a safety-first environment that delivers value to our enterprise and the highest quality products to our customers.
  • Complete annual safety requirements.
  • Learn and Understand the Columbus West manufacturing processes including Change Control and Validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) requirements. Medical Device Mfg. experience not required, but preference will be given to candidates with that experience
  • Executes technical solutions including equipment bills of materials, scope of work, estimates, participate in proposal review, and provide timely status updates to project managers.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and create clear user and technical manual documentation for OT systems for technical and operational staff on applications where OT Engineering has Tier 2 or Tier 3 responsibility.
  • Team Member in process improvement projects delivering sustainable solutions in collaboration with plant technical peers
  • Provide production support and maintenance for enterprise systems including Environmental Health & Safety, OEE and Plant Key Performance Metrics, Process Controls and Automation, reporting and analytics systems for Operations, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and others as directed
  • Collaborate with Information Technology and Information Security teams to get the desired outcome for the Columbus West and their overall programs and requirements.
  • Assist engineering team in developing User Requirements Specification (URS) documentation specifying OT/IT requirements for new system purchases

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Track record of strong people/team development. Develops technical talent needed to support OT Systems working with OT Eng Lead on training opportunities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong, effective team relationships with multiple organizational levels across manufacturing sites and corporate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including documentation standards, adept at articulating priorities, and speak to stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines on your project responsibilities.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Education: Four-year degree preferred, 2 year required in any of the following areas: Networking, Software/Application/IT Analyst, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other equivalent degree provided with the required experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in the IT or OT fields required
  • Experience working with third party vendors or system integrators.
  • A good understanding of networking, Windows PC's and servers and software implementations is critical
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity controls and its applicability in the healthcare industry, manufacturing, medical devices, IoT and intersection of IT and OT.
  • Certifications from IT or Automation and Controls companies preferred.
