Job Description Summary

This role is responsible for the implementation and ongoing support of BD Informatics platforms leading to a great customer experience.

You will be responsible for the project plan deliverables for the implementation life cycle:

  • Pre-installation IT planning, network architecture, server specification and provisioning.
  • Software deployment, configuration and testing.
  • LIS connectivity and connectivity with BD instruments.
  • Integration of Synapsys with customer or third party software platforms.
  • Ongoing support such as corrective actions, troubleshooting, updates,
  • Drive the success of the Synapsys implementation strategy and is required to collaborate with our customers to configure & interface the system
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient implementation
  • Collaborate with customers in interfacing BD Informatics with all BD Integrated Diagnostic Systems instruments and software
  • Drive the adoption of BD's Remote Support Solution for existing BD product portfolio

Responsibilities:

Informatics

Assist in the pre-implementation and sales process by negotiating with various stake holders such as IT security teams to ensure the acceptance of the BD Informatics solutions into the customers IT environment. Collaborate with all the relevant internal and external stakeholders for implementation success including:

  • Customer stakeholders from the laboratory or other institution, IT / IHIS / LIS
  • Project Manager
  • Field Service Engineers
  • Technical Solutions Manager
  • Provide offered soltuion architecture and design information to the sales team for opportunity development and progression.

Lead the implementation & customisation of BD Informatics (software) supporting:

  • Integrating the BD Informatics solution into the customers IT infrastructure.
  • Interfacing with BD Diagnostics instruments.
  • Connectivity to the customer's existing environment and third party software systems. i.e. HIS, LIS connectivity in hospital or lab setting.
  • Majority of hands-on time working with customers will be IT focused, working with Laboratory and Hospital IT departments to co-ordinate their provision of the server and network infrastructure required to support the BD informatics solution.

Microbiology Lab Automation

  • Support the Automation Integration Specialist by assisting with the following:
  • Pre-implementation planning with IT and LIS vendors.
  • System Control Unit (Server) commissioning and integration into the customer network.
  • Informatics platform installation, configuration and testing.
  • Interfacing the Laboratory Automation System with customer Laboratory Information System.
  • Perform post-implementation support activities (on-site and remote) including troubleshooting network, server support, server patching and domain administration.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Networking and Cybersecurity or closely related technical discipline.
  • Previous experience preferred in medical technology, middleware devices, PC / IT knowledge, networking and interface protocols, experience in a hospital setting supporting IT infrastructure such as servers, virtual machines and networking.
  • Previous experience deploying informatics solutions across a wide area nework for large organisation with multiple sites.

Essential

  • Virtual machine management and deployment. Vsphere, Veeam
  • Advanced TCP/IP networking, VLAN and switch configuration. Dell switches.
  • Microsoft SQL database server administration
  • Working knowledge of current Cybersecurity standards
  • Firewall management. Fortigate, windows firewall
  • Domain administration, Group Policy admin, DNS config, Microsoft Server OS
  • Browser configuration and internet connectivity configuration
  • HTTPS, SSL and TLS working knowledge.
  • HL7 and ASTM 1394 interfacing experience.
  • Possess technical skills and knowledge with communication interface protocols, cabling & networking, data stream analysis and troubleshooting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Must have the ability to explain IT infrastructure and technical details to non-technical stake holders.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Visio, Excel, Project)
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, solid organizational / prioritization skills and a passion for providing excellent service
  • Ability to multi-task and be adaptable to changing business environments
  • Comfortable working in a cross functional dynamic team environment

Desired

  • Experience working in a hospital or laboratory IT environment.
  • Microsoft Azure cloud configuration and application deployment. Microsoft certification preferred.
  • Experience in web application and API development. ASP.NET
  • Microsoft IIS application configuration and deployment.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting middleware or any Laboratory Informatics Systems
  • Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate experience with project management and complex change management initiatives
  • Knowledge of Pathology laboratories processes and techniques
