About the role:

As Field Service Representative, you will provide on-site support to BD customers that includes, but is not limited to support of installation, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, removals and other support needed, after hour phone support, holiday and weekend on-site and phone support, as well as support of Marketing, exhibitions, and clinical trials. Troubleshoots issues to resolve root cause and identifies possible solutions, with a focus on improving customer satisfaction in all interactions.

This Edmonton, AB field-based position provides support to existing automation team and customers in Western Canada. Must live within proximity of Edmonton AB.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Action technical service bulletins on assigned instruments, as per BD guidelines and within required timelines.
  • Properly maintain car stock inventory, test equipment, tools, and technical data.
  • Display maturity and judgment in time management and expense control.
  • Report quality control and other technical problems, in detail, to the appropriate support center and manager.
  • Prepare and write service reports in accordance with internal procedures and other necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Actively supports team and continuously looks to improve the team processes to create a more efficient work environment.
  • Back-up other Service Representatives during times of significant workload.
  • Provide limited IT software support to customers.
  • Attend training on assigned BD instruments as requested.
  • A commitment to upholding company policies, compliance, safety and quality standards.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you require:

  • Understands and applies a well-adapted troubleshooting methodology when collaborating with customers on sophisticated technical issues.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, confirmed organizational / prioritization skills and a passion for providing excellent service.
  • Strong client-service mindset along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to multi-task and be adaptable to changing business environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a cross functional dynamic team environment, with the ability to work independently.
  • Required to be available for on call rotation with other team members for a lab which operates in a 24/7 environment.
  • Be highly mobile and able to travel often and outside of area on short notice, to include on-call, overnight and weekends, 30 to 50% travel may be required.
  • Proficient with MS Office tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Education and experience required:

  • DEP or DEC in mechanical engineering/industrial mechanics/automation or other relevant training.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a Field Service role, or similar, providing equipment installation, corrective and/or preventative maintenance. Mechanical and electrical aptitudes are necessary.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a past clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years, as well as meet BD's auto safety standards.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, and work on your feet for extended periods. This position requires a considerable amount of pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting.
  • Must be able to travel to the US for trainings.

Education, skills and experience preferred:

  • Proficiency with ERP/CRM systems (Salesforce)
  • LIS Experience an asset.
  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma.
