Job Position Title: Facilities Engineer
Function: Engineering
Location: Columbus West
Job Group/Grade: JG3
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing engineering, and technical support for the facilities maintenance team and executing facilities-related capital projects as well as develop and implement improved automation methods of manufacturing, procedures, and processes that result in improved efficiencies, yields, machine operations, and quality at the Columbus West site. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, layout, installation, validation and maintenance of facility and utility systems such as air compressors, steam boilers, electrical service, WFI water, potable water, compressed gases, vacuum, etc.
- Responsible for maintaining and improving facility equipment reliability and upgrading all plant facilities.
- Responsible to budget, justify, design and coordinate all new construction, such as building renovation, clean room construction, etc. project work.
- Responsible for the plant grounds, image, appearance both internal and external to the facility.
- Understand Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA systems, Windows based PC applications, industrial networks, connectivity, as it relates to the facilities equipment & environment.
- Provide leadership in knowledge transfer, training and implementation of approved standards and practices for Controls systems, including network implementation, PLC's, HMIs, SCADA systems, field devices, as it relates to facilities equipment & environment.
- Utilizes necessary professional engineering firms to ensure facility renovations and improvements comply with all applicable codes and regulations.
- Review work orders, complete maintenance requests, and write purchase orders.
- Monitor contractor workmanship progress and compliance with insurance and safety requirements.
- Assess risks of key systems and create plans to address gaps.
- Coordinate facility preventive maintenance programs and records.
- Compliance with local, state and national environmental practices and laws.
- Other duties as required to support the needs of the business
Education:
- Associates Degree required in a related field
- BA/BS Degree preferred in a field of Mechanical Engineering, Industrial, and Facilities or Construction Management
Experience:
- Five years of engineering related experience required with an Associates Degree
- Background in engineering in facilities/construction management with leadership in project and capital management preferred.
