Job Description Summary

The Supply & Inventory Planner EMEA determines the quantities by product required to maintain target inventory levels and order product from source to replenish based upon appropriate lead time. She/he coordinates finished goods sourcing activities across Plants and External Supplier Network optimizing available capacity and assets. The Supply & Inventory Planner EMEA drives S&OP Supply consensus and macro level capacity management. She/he also recommends and set inventory levels to support the region's service levels in alignment with the Global Business and Supply Chain objectives.

Our vision for Integrated Diagnostics Solutions at BD

By aligning and simplifying our work, our Integrated Diagnostic Solutions (IDS) business unit aims to drive growth and innovation around everything from integrated specimen management to diagnostic solutions.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for regional service level achievement for assigned product groups in alignment with global recommendations and for supervising Regional Alert Monitors
  • Work with the regional demand planner to get understanding on the product demands within the region and facilitating allocation decisions within the region in short supply situations
  • Responsible for defining the appropriate planning strategy (MTO/MTS/ATO) for assigned product portfolio aligned with manufacturing practices
  • Work with global planning to detail and maintain lead times within the integrated supply chain that will affect required inventory levels.
  • Engage with the worldwide planning organization on management of long term product supply shortages e.g., temporarily reduce inventory targets in order to automate the propagation / distribution of the materials with shortages, creation of manual STO's for the regions to allow fair share deployment between domestic and intercompany shipments, etc.
  • Work with global and regional supply chain teams to achieve an efficient distribution network, and maintain a key coordination point with local warehouse management and transportation functions, and provide projections to warehouse management and transportation on Inbound and Storage Volumes.
  • Help with the Regional Demand/Supply Review: collect and evaluate data to improve production plan and performance indicators in the Regional S&OP meetings.
  • Collaborate with WW Demand/Supply Planners for plants globally and S&OP Process owners and support WW Supply Chain key initiatives to accomplish outstanding forecast accuracy.
  • Responsible for regional key metrics, i.e., backorder, inventory turns, FDS, line fill
  • Liaison to regional business cross-functional leadership team to understand business strategy and future business needs
  • Translate business/supply chain needs into supply needs and work closely with plant to understand capacity resources, LTP and lead product changes and launches.

About you

  • University degree or equivalent experience in Business, Supply Chain or related fields.
  • Proficient with definitions, parameters and variables of demand and supply planning performance metrics, capable to translate these metrics into important business outcomes, to perform root cause analysis and apply corrective actions
  • Capable to monitor Supply planning metrics performance in support of S&OP and to recommend corrective action as required.
  • Working knowledge of the 5 step S&OP Process with specific awareness of dependent activities within the S&OP cycle.
  • Capable to facilitate Regional Supply Reviews and to represent the regions in WW S&OP meetings.
  • Has understanding of the E2E supply chain and the regional networks
  • Strong analytical skills, capable to drill-down for root cause analysis, linked to capability to synthesize and translate findings into business language
  • Skilled to think at tactical and strategic levels and to tailor communication to different levels in the organization
  • Solid understanding of project management and CI tools (i.e., Six Sigma)
  • Understanding of market served (Switzerland) and its demand volatility affected by market place events such as tender, competitor actions, etc.
  • Understanding of end user customer expectations and requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Power Point and Word
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Business level fluency in English required, other European language knowledge a plus.

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong data analytic experience and abilities
  • APICS certification is a plus
  • Experience in Supply Chain is preferred
  • ERP experience such as SAP or tools such as APO, SCM are a plus
