The Diagnostics Sales Specialist (DSS) reports to the VP Specimen Management and brings clinical and operational acumen in chemistry and hematology lab automation to support the application, workflow and pre-analytical implementation of BD Vacutainer™ blood collection and safety phlebotomy devices.
The DSS will work collaboratively with the US field sales organization to lead commercial execution of current and aspiring BD customers acting as an applications expert with peer-to-peer connectivity. This trusted resource will support technical questioning, customer engagement and portfolio implementation yielding sustainable and strategic relationships with integrated health systems, reference labs and industry partners from pre-analytical to result.
Internally, this associate will sit on the Commercial Leadership Team and provide insight, direction and technical support that will shape the US strategy in Specimen Management.
This individual is a cross functional leader who collaborates closely within the US sales organization, the US Marketing organization, Medical Affairs and US Clinical Specialists.
Job Summary:
The position will be responsible for driving sales of all BD diagnostic products in both clinical and non-clinical settings through strong relationships built with key partners including but not limited to nurses, doctors, phlebotomists, laboratory technicians and scientists. The role will involve building excellent customer relations by anticipating and assessing customer needs and providing solutions via product demonstrations, educational sessions, seminars etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Commercial expert & field sales resource in technical questioning, customer engagement and portfolio implementation driving business development in BD Vacutainer™
• Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with customer and industry stakeholders developing KOL relations and peer engagement
• Demonstrates the strategic importance of the BD pre-analytics internally and externally as customer and industry evolutions continue in chemistry, hematology and infection prevention
• Supports commercial activity as an industry expert for lab instrument innovation, automation and BD application
• Identifies market and customer trends as well as clinical process and workflow optimization opportunities using relationships within industry and key customers (integrated health systems and reference labs)
• Identifies business development opportunities through US commercial engagement supporting regional sales strategies, protecting existing customer partnerships and accelerating new business acquisition
• Remains atop industry changes, capital advancements in innovation and workflow ensuring appropriate application of BD Vacutainer™
• Provides upstream visibility on market trends to support global business development strategies of Specimen Management
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university
• Strong technical understanding of chemistry and hematology lab testing and applications
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
• Ability to influence others without authority throughout matrixed organization and often in external business development opportunities
• A demonstrated business sense in Lab Instrumentation with successful track record in commercializing large scale capital, strong verbal/presentation skills and negotiations that win
• Must be willing to travel nationally 75% of the time.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Good analytical skills; ability to use reporting tools and Salesforce software to interpret market trends
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• MBA
• Current/previous experience in lab capital sales, application specialists or clinical specialists
• Experience selling on value across US healthcare
• Solid track record of building and maintaining strategic relationships with key customers and opinion leaders
