Job Description Summary

You will be accountable for business development and account management for BD's flow cytometry-based clinical pathology customers based in the South of England. You will have sales responsibility for a range of flow cytometry instruments, reagents and services across the BD portfolio.

This role focuses on growing the business through the gain of market share from our competitors in the clinical segment, incorporating broader BD capabilities to create new value for our customers.

Our vision for BD Biosciences at BD

BD Biosciences (BDB) is a leading provider of high-quality flow cytometry and single-cell genomics solutions, scientific research and clinical laboratories. Here, we are leading the way by developing the best technologies that have the ability to look closer at the details of cells and diseases.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • To ensure the growth targets for the BDB business are met on the territory within the BD product ranges through direct negotiation, sales activities, attendance at exhibitions, organisation of on site meetings/demonstrations and technical support.
  • Create business development objectives on your territory, including both BD and competitor accounts, working with local account managers. To develop a strategic approach to that account in a timely manner to ensure the best opportunity of a successful tender outcome;
  • Provide account management for your clinical accounts on territory, ensuring the customer is continues to see benefit in their contracts and manage operational topics as necessary.
  • Work with other Business Units and Managed Service Contracts (MSC) team to leverage existing business relationships and develop BD Biosciences relationships.
  • Be an expert in NHS and HSE pathology market dynamics, procurement and educate colleagues in this area.
  • Plan approaches and pitches. Work with team to develop proposals that speak to the customer's needs, pains and objectives;
  • Participate in clinical diagnostics industry functions, such as association events and conferences and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends;
  • Identify and access key senior market opinion leaders to develop their agenda in line with the marketing strategy;
  • Project management as required to help facilitate clinical implementations.

About you

  • A degree or equivalent in cell biology, immunology, haematology or a related subject, or several years of laboratory experience.
  • Flow cytometry experience preferred.
  • Sales experience is desirable, it is not a must provided you have a strong technical background as training will be provided. You must be motivated to achieve individual and team sales targets, be a great teammate and have strong coordinating and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM
  • Valid and current driving licence.
