General Function:

As Chemical Program Analyst you provide subject matter expertise, data management and analytical support for chemical regulations, such as Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP) Regulations and Biocidal Product Regulations (BPR).

You also monitor new and changing regulations in close collaboration with the Chemical Review Board, Regulatory Affairs, Public Affairs, and with industry groups and coordinate input and feedback.

You provide expertise, guidance, training and support to the worldwide businesses, functions, regions and plants.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Be the subject matter expert on chemical regulations such as BPR and POP; maintain up to date knowledge on these regulations, liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure that requirements are understood, track progress towards relevant deadlines and provide support as needed.
  • Support the completion of annual chemical reporting in countries; coordinate the data collection and analysis and provide reports to in-country representatives.
  • Coordinate product stewardship sensing activities and maintain trackers and overviews as needed.
  • Monitor and assess global emerging or changing chemical legislations that could impact BD's ability to place products on the market, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to conduct initial impact analysis and oversee status of business/region responses.
  • Track, collect input and coordinate responses to requests from industry groups, governmental agencies, etc. Participate and report out on industry meetings as needed.
  • Lead, support or actively contribute to assigned chemical projects; for example assist with the facilitation of the Chemical Review Board.
  • Support the overall ongoing chemical compliance process, identify and implement opportunities for improvements. Support ongoing data governance and associated activities.

Position Requirements:

You have a degree in Chemistry, Biology, or another related field and experience with chemical regulations such as REACH, BPR, POP, etc.

You are a self-starter who can work independently as well as collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders worldwide. You are able to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet regulatory/business needs.

You have strong comprehension, analytical and problem-solving skills. You are proficient in English and are PC knowledgeable (Windows environment, Outlook, PowerPoint & strong Excel skills). Experience in SAP and database programs is helpful.
