Job Description Summary

The Business Development Specialist's role will be to drive new customer acquisition and significant expansion of Hospital Automation footprint within existing customers. This role will lead in shaping customer specific strategies across the assigned region to ensure the Hospital Automation commercial strategy is successful. You will be influencing new and existing customers to look at new and innovative ways of working with BD, both in terms of technology and in utilising available innovative commercial models such as Leasing, Managed Service and Value based procurement, to meet individual customer's needs. You will work with new and existing accounts to maximise win rate and deal size from these opportunities. You will work in partnership with an Account Manager across your assigned region. As the Business Development Specialist, you will be expected to create, own and execute upon your regional strategy, working in collaboration with internal stakeholders such as the Account Manager, Head of Sales, Strategic Accounts, Marketing and Customer Success team.

Our vision for Medication Management Solutions at BD

With our technical capabilities, the Medication Management Solutions (MMS) team are able to manage multiple systems and our operational capabilities enable us to have medications available when and where needed, reducing inefficiency and waste for nursing and pharmacy teams.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Development and ownership of the assigned region's strategic plan working alongside the Account Manager and agreed with the Head of Sales
  • Defining and driving the commercial strategy for large and impactful opportunities, influencing customers to engage with BD to grow category share and drive sustainable business
  • Define and lead the strategy for tender responses for large opportunities
  • Network with leaders in the UK and Ireland (as appropriate) healthcare system such as Pharmacy, Nursing, Transformation Directors, Estates and IT related stakeholders
  • Influence senior leaders to develop productive partnerships with BD
  • Ensuring Salesforce.com is at all times up to date and accurate to allow informed decision making by leadership
  • Attendance at ICB board meetings within assigned territory
  • Collaborating optimally with key internal partners such as the Account Manager, Marketing, Customer Success, Clinical, Service and senior leadership

About you

  • Proven experience in Business Development.
  • Knowledge of the tender and procurement process within the NHS, preferably regarding long term hospital equipment purchasing
  • Understanding of the UK Medication Dispensing and Administration process desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, with advanced commercial acumen.
  • Computer literate with a solid understanding of Microsoft Office and CRMs,
  • You will be results-orientated, flexible and highly collaborative.
  • Previous Clinical/Operational/IT/pharmacy experience preferred
  • Previous project experience with Cerner/Epic/Allscript/JAC/Ascribe preferred
