Job Description Summary

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for identifying, managing, and developing prioritised accounts in the aseptic pharmacy sector, in order to position BD as a strategic partner for the effective and safe preparation of IV medicines including Parenteral Nutrition (PN), Chemotherapy and Central IntraVenous Additives (CIVA), The role will also support the business in achieving the BD MMS sales and gross profit targets. The Business Development Specialist is accountable for the development and effective execution of a multi-year strategic growth and tactical execution plan for their accounts and for managing the internal teams to maximise revenue and GP, as well as establishing strong customer relationships. They will work closely with the wider MMS Sales Team, Customer Success Team, Clinical Team and Marketing team to obtain the required support and ensure the implementation and execution of the plan.

Our vision for Medication Management Solutions at BD

With our technical capabilities, the Medication Management Solutions (MMS) team are able to manage multiple systems and our operational capabilities enable us to have medications available when and where needed, reducing inefficiency and waste for nursing and pharmacy teams.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute a strategic growth and tactical execution plan for your accounts, managing internal teams to increase revenue and gross profit while establishing strong customer relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider MMS Sales Team, Customer Success Team, Clinical Team, and Marketing team to obtain required support and ensure implementation and execution of the plan.
  • Prospect, develop, and manage accounts to enhance revenue and gross profit growth for BD Cato™.
  • Serve as the key interface to hospital and BD Cato™ customer base, guiding solution development and coordinating project teams for solution implementation.
  • Establish strong personal relationships with all relevant stakeholders, gather and share market knowledge, and participate in relevant congresses and customer conventions.
  • Negotiate strategic deals that meet customer and BD expectations, oversee implementation of solutions, and remain the focal point of contact for main stakeholders.

About you

  • Proven experience in sales and similar commercial roles
  • Strong board level communication skills and experience
  • Excellent business development skills and proven leadership skills to drive solutions
  • Strong understanding of national healthcare system, its reimbursement and influencing dynamics, and understanding of hospital landscape and UK/Ireland Aseptic Services is a plus
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively with individuals from a broad range of business and technical disciplines and an ability to influence these groups to achieve the objectives, both externally and internally
  • Ability to work effectively both as a member and leader of multi-functional teams
  • Proactive, rigorous, pragmatic, organizationally savvy, action-orientated with strong drive for results, comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Flexible with regards to travel
  • Fluency in English is a must
