About the role
The Bids & Tenders Representative will be responsible for bidding on new business opportunities for BD's Medical System Division in Switzerland, reporting to the Director of Marketing and Sales Operations. The candidate will have a strong understanding of BD's product portfolio as well as the competitive landscape. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure the timely submission of tenders, proposals and quotations in accordance with the tendering strategy. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as they will be required to develop and present compelling tender responses. Additionally, this individual must demonstrate the ability to work independently while also being a team player who can effectively collaborate across multiple functions within the organization.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Lead the development of high-quality tender submissions and supporting documentation, including price calculations.
- Develop and implement the tendering strategy, identifying new business opportunities by monitoring public procurement websites.
- Support the sales organization with pricing information for tender requests and negotiations.
- Manage relationships with key customers, tailoring offerings to their needs.
- Coordinate internal resources and external partners to cover all aspects of the tender process, including logistics, supply chain management, regulatory approvals, and clinical training.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, finance, legal, quality assurance, medical affairs, service, and technical support) to gather data for tenders.
- Leverage best practices and knowledge sharing with international colleagues.
- Monitor the progress of submitted tenders and follow up on required actions or clarifications.
- Maintain accurate records of all tender submissions and provide regular updates to the sales organization.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a similar field. An MBA or Master's degree would be advantageous but not mandatory.
- Fluent English and German language skills, both written and spoken. French would be beneficial.
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a similar role preferably within a medical device industry, ideally with experience in bidding for government contracts.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
