Job Summary
The Associate Manager, Marketing Communications is responsible for creating an integrated plan to disseminate engaging content; writing copy for the website, social and other digital channels; and executing content marketing strategies to engage and convert prospects into customers. As a key member of the Public Affairs & Strategic Marketing team, they will work cross business to develop and deploy Brand messaging that demonstrates the impact of BD products, expertise, capabilities and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Campaign Execution
- Design content marketing strategies optimized for attracting, educating, and retaining customers.
- Produce content that supports and extend sales and marketing initiatives throughout digital channels such as: Emails & Newsletters, Landing pages, Case studies, Infographics, Short-form videos / screencasts, Ad-Copy for Paid-Ads and Social Media Copy.
- Brainstorm and create engaging, shareable and timely social media topics to deploy and support regional teams.
- Develop creative briefs by reviewing concepts to ensure effective alignment with business goals, marketing objectives and BD brand identity. Facilitate constructive dialogue between marketing stakeholders and creative teams/agencies.
- Maintain an editorial calendar for key Marketing events in Canada, such as conferences or industry awareness days.
Brand & Compliance
- Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice for each audience.
- Copyedit, subedit and fact-check short or long-form content for grammar, spelling, syntax, substance and flow according to tight deadlines. Creatively repurpose existing content into alternative formats to market through different channels.
- Gain approval of communications pieces from Medical, Legal, and Regulatory review process. Ensure copy approval process is followed in accordance with BD policy.
- Champion the BD brand by leading training or onboarding presentations for adherence to brand standards and guidelines.
Content Management & Marketing Technology
- Conduct audits and organize content management systems (CMS) to optimize or promote existing marketing collateral.
- Manage the CMS as an administrator ensuring the adoption, governance, and best practice use of the sales enablement platform, Showpad.
- Maintain SharePoint knowledge management by developing or revising basic training guides for marketing technology processes.
- Work closely with various internal teams to balance needs and translate those needs into high-quality written content and user experiences.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in content creation required; Medical Technology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals or Healthcare focus preferred.
- Qualified candidates should be prepared to submit three writing samples during interview process.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in Windows 10 and Microsoft Suite, social media platforms, and content management systems (CMS).
- Experience in communications planning and copywriting for various channels required.
- Graphic design skills for Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign highly desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to persuade or influence diverse audiences preferred.
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to formulate and implement marketing and communications strategies, convert these into tactical plans, and deliver results.
- Track record of creativity in new idea generation and customer needs identification.
- Ability to manage complex projects and collaborate across business units.
- Organized and demonstrates strong attention to detail, effectively prioritize multiple tasks and establish responsible deadlines and personal work plans.
- Independent self-starter with ability to work as a member of a team.
