Process Overview

Global Finance was set up in 2007 as a part of the CFO Global Delivery strategy to provide offshore delivery to Line of Business and Enterprise Finance functions. The capabilities hosted include Legal Entity Controllership, General Accounting & Reconciliations, Regulatory Reporting, Operational Risk and Control Oversight, Finance Systems Support, etc.

Our group supports the Consumer and GWIM Finance business in the various stages of consumer lending lifecycle (Marketing strategies, New Card acquisition, Customer engagement, Existing account strategies, Revenue growth, Retention, Credit & risk, Affinity partners, Network associations, Profitability, etc). Team is involved in Financial Planning and Analysis, management reporting and data analysis efforts leading to financial solutions to support the US consumer lending finance team.

Job Description


The candidate will be responsible for Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) for the Consumer Banking and Wealth Management business, and in addition will be responsible for analysis of data for decision making by senior leadership. These functions support the CFO Group in various strategies related to Consumer lending and Wealth Management business. The candidate will play a leadership role in the Team responsible for FP&A and data analysis and would manage multiple projects in parallel by ensuring adequate understanding of the requirements in order to deliver data analysis solutions. These projects would be complex and time critical which would require the Leader to comprehend & evaluate the strategic business drivers in order to bring in efficiencies through automation of existing reporting packages or codes. The work would be a mix of standard and ad-hoc deliverables based on dynamic business requirements. Technical competency is essential to build processes which ensure data quality and completeness across all projects / requests related to business. The candidate will expand relationships with Senior US Leaders on the CFO team to build a strong Center of Excellence. The core responsibility of this leader is people and process management - influencing others to perform and deliver, and leading their organization to achieve sustainable, accurate and well controlled results. Candidate should have a clear understanding of the end-to-end process (including its purpose) and a discipline of managing and continuously improving those processes. They are accountable for the team's work product - ensuring the work their team delivers is well controlled, accurate and of the highest quality.

Responsibilities

  • Play a leadership role in Program Management including building / improving solutions for Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and Data Analysis functions that support decision making by senior leadership
  • Preparation of various FP&A reports (revenue, expenses, B/S etc.) including performing variance analysis
  • Responsible for the forecasts and planning/budgeting process. Review and analyze variances and ensure alignment with the forecast
  • Perform month end review and control
  • Responsible for the preparation of various business reviews and ad-hoc financial analysis to support senior management decisions
  • Take responsibility for front-ending the relationships with the Line of Business Teams and Leaders, and further build / expand the Program capabilities
  • Design solutions, generate actionable insights, optimize existing processes, build tool-based automations and ensure overall program governance
  • Understand business requirements and translate those into deliverables. Support the business on periodic and ad-hoc projects related to consumer products
  • Managing and improving the work: develop full understanding of the work processes, continuous focus on process improvement through simplification, innovation and use of emerging technology tools, and understanding data sourcing and transformation. Drive Operational Excellence; develop and execute strategies to constantly improve the work we do across CFO.
  • Managing risk: managing and reducing risk, proactively identify risks, issues and concerns and manage controls to help drive responsible growth (ex: Compliance, Operational - SAFER, Self-Identified Audit Issues, procedures, data management, etc), establish a risk culture to encourage early escalation and self-identifying issues
  • Effective communication: deliver transparent, concise and consistent messaging while influencing and leading - drive change across teams. Partner with individual contributors and onshore partners of the Global Finance team regarding capacity planning, performance & development, skill sets, learning opportunities. Collaborate with leaders across the Global Finance India teams to drive consistency and efficiency in communication, accountability and change execution
  • Be a key contributor to business initiatives that require thought leadership and subject matter expertise. Also mentor and coach the team to become key contributors on complex data analysis requirements
  • Extremely good with numbers and ability to present various business/finance metrics, detailed analysis and key observations to Senior Business Leaders and influence change.
  • Supervise a team of employees or act as individual contributor towards achieving all the above objectives - train / guide / coach team members

Requirements


Education

CA/CPA or MBA finance with 15+ years of relevant work experience

Experience Range


15+ years of relevant work experience in Financial Planning & Analysis and Data Analysis in Banking industry. Exposure to Consumer banking or Wealth Management businesses would be an added advantage

Foundational skills

  • 15+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis and Data Analysis
  • Strong abilities on FP&A and Data Analysis and strong financial acumen - ability to systematically apply a combination of inductive and deductive reasoning to examine information, interpret results and arrive at well-founded logical conclusions
  • Strong computer skills, including MS excel, power point, Oracle, DB2, Teradata, SAS, SQL, emerging technologies and automation tools, data analysis tools
  • Prior Banking and Financial services industry experience, preferably Retail banking
  • Proven experience in managing, leading and developing multi-location teams (15+)
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), leadership skills, and relationship management skills to navigate the complexities of aligning stakeholders, building consensus and resolving conflicts in a large, distributed organization; proven ability to influence peers/stakeholders and other leaders across various lines of business
  • Proven ability to manage multiple and often competing priorities in a global environment
  • Ability to drive strategic initiatives with a track record of successful change management
  • Manages operational risk by building strong processes and quality control routines

Desired skills

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities under pressure, and deliver as well as being able to adapt to changes
  • Able to work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment
  • SharePoint development experience
