Job Description:
This job is responsible for managing a team supporting data and technology requests, complex reporting and analysis, and modeling to manage risk and minimize credit and operating losses. Key responsibilities include managing the review and analysis of portfolio trends, directing the development of more complex databases or queries to extract data, and supporting the production of data for internal and external reporting needs. Job expectations include working with Technology to implement changes necessary to support ongoing data needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the development, execution, and enhancement of reporting to allow Risk and business partners to effectively identify and manage risk
  • Oversees the analysis of trends and oversees the data design, portfolio trends, loss trends, and portfolio dynamics to ensure alignment with business strategies
  • Serves as a liaison between the data, technology, and reporting teams in support of strategic initiatives affecting multiple Risk functions and lines of business to ensure company goals are met
  • Oversees database production processes and performance reports for senior management, using data mining and other advanced analytical techniques to aggregate data
  • Manages communications related to complex ad-hoc requests for information from both internal and external parties, ensuring requests are addressed
  • Leads cross-functional strategic efforts to remediate data quality issues
  • Provides oversight of relevant systems and assures controls are operating effectively based on feedback received from the control checks and reviews

Acts as primary credit risk business and controls oversight for Residential Real Estate Collateral Valuations processes:
• Provide independent point of view of escalated loans to assess credibility, quality, and compliance with bank policy, risk appetite, and industry guidelines
• Monitor, test, and control the effectiveness of valuation products and services supporting the bank's mortgage origination and servicing of portfolio loans
• Ensure Collateral Valuations policies, procedures and processes align with defined corporate risk appetite, credit quality standards as well as federal and state laws regulating the banking and valuation industry
• Drive adoption by the line of business of appropriate actions to address and mitigate identified risks as well as monitor results to achieve the optimum risk-reward balance
• Perform risk assessments of valuation products and processes for alignment within guardrails
• Leverage appraisal experience to provide independent point of view of escalated loans to assess credibility, quality, and compliance with bank policy, risk appetite, and industry guidelines
• Drive identification and timely resolution of all identified risk issues
• Leverage industry relationships with peer lenders and government agencies to understand alignment as well as advocate for positive changes in the valuation industry

Required

- 10+ years of experience in financial services industry with focus on consumer and/or small business lending
- 5-10 year experience in First Mortgage or Home Equity lending, with focus on credit risk oversight, residential real estate appraisal or valuation
- Working knowledge of business analytical and visualization tools
- Strong management, organization, leadership and influencing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of Risk Management practices and policies
- Ability to interface confidently across all levels of management with both business and support partners
- Regular use of discretion and independent, sound judgment
- Must be industrious, self-directed and intellectually curious
- Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred with major/concentration in finance, statistics, or other quantitative discipline
- Database and programming background (SAS, SQL, R, Python) is a plus
