- Lead a 2-person (and growing) public affairs focused team in Washington, DC and be an in-market brand ambassador for Axios.
- Establish new relationships for Axios’ Core Media team, and proactively network across the market and create new opportunities for our company.
- Develop and maintain trusted, strategic relationships with agency and client partners to expand Axios' footprint within your category.
- Proactive ideas to expand Axios’ solutions for advocacy campaigns through new product, sponsorship and underwriting opportunities.
Details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios’ mission. This position requires the following:
- 8-10+ years’ experience in public affairs, platform, agency or publisher sales, specifically in the digital policy/politics media industry. An understanding of what it means to navigate “inside the beltway.”
- Established relationships with key agencies and brands – specifically around navigating legislative and regulatory issues.
- Expert knowledge of digital media, online marketing technology, and Axios’ competitive landscape.
- In-depth knowledge of Congress and the Administration, lobbying network and associations landscape.
- Comfortable with a mix of outbound sales strategy as well as the nurturing of inbound leads and existing client relationships.
- Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to proactively partner with client success, Axios Brand Studio and Axios Live teams.
- Previous management experience required.
Starting salary for this role is in the range of $150k - $189k and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
Note that the total compensation offered for this role includes a sales incentive component, which is contingent upon the successful achievement of predetermined sales targets.
