You will primarily technically lead the delivery of large legacy transformation and modernization projects and programs using your experience in .NET and/or Java together with Avanade's toolset. You will leverage cloud technologies and DevOps practices including CI/CD, containerization. Leveraging cloud technologies and DevOps practices including CI/CD, containerization. You will provide management and mentoring of technical consultants assigned to the project to deliver the migrated sources and data and the setup and configuration of the target environment. You will guide and mentor consultants in the investigation of defects reported by the client in the migrated applications or environment configuration and propose the best course of action for resolution.

You will work closely with the product R&D Migration team. In addition, you will assist the client to understand the migrated environment by providing training and knowledge transfer and prepare and present status reports to Delivery Leads and project executives and sponsors.

The role involves occasionally traveling onsite to clients, either to run Site Surveys to discover the make-up of the current legacy environment to be migrated, or to support key events during the delivery of the legacy migration/modernization project.

What you´ll do

Site Survey

* You will coordinate the smooth running of the Site Survey process, which involves analyzing the legacy source code provided using Avanade's code analysis tools.
* Running workshops with client SMEs to get a full understanding of the legacy environment to be migrated
* Analyze the information provided with the R&D Migration team to provide solutions for migrating to the target Cloud environment running the migrated .Net / Java applications.
* Create the report of the current and target state.
* Present and walkthrough to the client of the target solution

Migration Project

* You will technically lead the delivery of the migration project, which involves installing the migrated solution in the target environment
* Coordinating the investigation of reported issues in the migrated solution.
* Coach and guide persons in the investigation of defects.
* Assist in the delivery of interface replacements to and from the migrated solution.
* Assist in the implementation of DevOps and CI/CD Pipelines.
* Provide status updates to the delivery lead.
* Provide training and knowledge transfer to the client on the migrated solution.

Skills & Experience

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated excellence in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form.
* 5+ years programming in either Java using IntelliJ or similar IDE and Python or C# / .Net using MS Visual Studio, ASP.NET, and PowerShell.
* Ideally also knowledge of legacy programming. languages too, for example, COBOL, Assembler, JCL, etc.
* A reasonable understanding of:

* ›DevOps and build tools, for example, Azure DevOps, Maven, Jenkins etc.
* ›Containers such as Docker, Kubernetes / AKS.
* ›Windows Server/AD, VM's, Azure or AWS Cloud.
* ›PostgreSQL, or SQL Server, or other open databases.

About You

* Ideally knowledge of mainframe infrastructure and operations.
* Ideally previous experience in managing large enterprise mainframe applications or alternatively have worked previously in large legacy migration/modernization projects.
* Attention to details - well-organized and structured
* A good knowledge of all aspects surrounding the delivery of IT enterprise applications, e.g,.
* Infrastructure administration and maintenance, software development life cycle, application administration and operations, database administration
