589 million blogs. 8 million posts a day. And 17 years spent building an alternative to the status quo. Part social network, part blogging platform, pure creativity: this is Tumblr. We’re proud to be one of the few places where internet creators can build their homes, share their work, and connect with their audiences through what they love—not who they know.
Our mission: to advance the world’s subcultures that make the internet more inclusive, interesting, and weird. Under Automattic, we’ve got the curiosity and energy to shape and scale our platform with tomorrow's creators of all types in mind.
Are you a Growth Marketer looking for that rare opportunity to join an early stage culture—with a decade-proof brand? Then give us a 👀. Let’s make the internet fun again!

We’re looking for a motivated and analytical Growth Marketing lead to join our team. - Create and validate data-informed user segmentation and targeting strategies
- Own and execute on your ideas—from crafting messaging to building and optimizing campaigns across various channels
- Measure and track user behaviors using a variety of tools, providing detailed reporting on the impact of your growth marketing efforts
- Drive measurable impact in conversion, sign-up, and retention rates through funnel optimization, A/B testing, and experimentation
- Partner with other Marketing, Product, Design, and Data teams to understand our users, our product, and the best ways to optimize the user journey
- Use your project management skills to lead development roadmaps, testing, and/or experimentation of new growth features and integrations
- Cultivate a spirit of fun and growth amongst your peers across teams
- Work with agencies to bolster our capabilities, and nurture those relationships to get maximum impact
- Lead and grow the marketing team, for the Tumblr we have today, and the place we intend to get to.
Requirements:
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in data analysis, funnel optimization, and cohort-based performance reporting. Experience with tools like Google Analytics, Looker, and SQL is a plus
- Project Management: Strong skills in prioritizing, distributing, and following up on growth initiatives
- Channel Expertise: Breadth of experience across multiple marketing channels including SEO, SEM, mobile marketing, CRO/LPO, paid social, and lifecycle marketing; including knowledge of and experience working with different types of agencies
- Decision Making: Ability to use data to make informed decisions and consider resource tradeoffs for maximum business impact
- Influence : Confidence in using data to drive strategy and uplift team morale through mentorship and a positive attitude
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams in a fully distributed work environment
- Autonomy: The ability to take initiative and drive projects forward independently, thriving in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Leadership: Experience growing a high-trust team, nurturing the teammates you have to grow and expand skill sets, and reach goals collectively
- Nice to have: You know Tumblr, with its unique ecosystem and weirdly particular audience because, on some level, that’s also you. Oh, and frogs. It’s definitely a plus if you like frogs.

We’re a distributed company with more than 1700 Automatticians in 92 countries speaking 110+ different languages. And, even more than growth and profitability (although we’re plenty profitable), above all, we’re driven by a mission: We democratize publishing and commerce so anyone with a story can tell it, and anyone with a product can sell it, regardless of income, gender, politics, language, or country.
We believe in Open Source, and the vast majority of our work is available under the GPL.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at Automattic
We’re improving diversity in the tech industry. At Automattic, we want people to love their work and show respect and empathy to all. We welcome differences and strive to increase participation from traditionally underrepresented groups. Our DEI committee involves Automatticians across the company and drives grassroots change. For example, this group has helped facilitate private online spaces for affiliated Automatticians to gather and helps run a monthly DEI People Lab series for further learning. DEI is a priority at Automattic, though our dedication influences far more than just Automatticians: We make our products freely available and translate our products into and offer customer support in numerous languages. We require unconscious bias training for our hiring teams and ensure our products are accessible across different bandwidths and devices.
