We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven API Release Manager to oversee the end-to-end release lifecycle of our Cloud API products.
This individual will oversee the end-to-end release lifecycle of our Cloud API products, ensuring timely delivery, seamless integration, and high-quality outcomes.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background, exceptional communication skills, and experience in managing cross-functional teams.
Additionally, they will act as an API advocate, promoting best practices and guiding teams through API release strategies.
This position requires no travel but involves working with an international team across multiple regions, requiring excellent coordination and virtual collaboration skills.

Responsibilities
Release Planning & Coordination
- Define and manage the Cloud API release schedule, aligning with business objectives and stakeholder expectations
- Collaborate with development, QA, DevOps, and product management to ensure smooth and timely releases
- Establish API versioning strategies to maintain backward compatibility and minimize disruptions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the primary liaison between engineering teams, product owners, and stakeholders to manage priorities and resolve conflicts
- Facilitate regular status meetings to track release progress and proactively address risks or blockers
- Advocate for API best practices, fostering a culture of quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement
Quality Assurance & Risk Management
- Implement quality control processes to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of Cloud API releases
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, operational, and business risks associated with API releases
- Partner with security teams to enforce API security standards, such as OAuth and OpenID Connect
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of release processes, schedules, and post-release evaluations
- Provide regular updates to leadership on release status, challenges, and key metrics
- Ensure API consumers and internal teams have access to well-documented API specifications, usage guidelines, and support resources
Process Improvement & Automation
- Continuously refine and improve release management processes to enhance efficiency and reduce time-to-market
- Stay up to date with industry trends and incorporate best practices for API lifecycle management
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in program or project management, preferably in software development or Cloud API management
- Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex API releases in a cloud-based environment
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, API development lifecycle, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, release management workflows and CI/CD pipelines
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple releases simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical teams and business objectives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and familiarity with SAFe frameworks
- Certification in Project Management (PMP, Scrum Master, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of API security standards (OAuth, OpenID Connect)
