Responsibilities: Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions in order to update software or enhance existing software capabilities.

As a technical lead, spearhead the development and maintenance of the Inventor application to release new features, solve customer issues, and ensure high levels of quality through prototyping, testing, process efficiency and documentation. Be a technical authority within a scrum team, collaborate with project and product managers to analyze current projects and contribute to the roadmap for future projects. Design, prototype, implement and test newly developed features, demonstrating advanced technical proficiency. Develop and prioritize tests and test procedures and review source code in Pull-Requests before merging, leading the team in quality assurance efforts. Validate features completed by other engineers before sending to Quality Assurance process. Proactively troubleshoot and fix software defects before changes are released to customers, demonstrating exceptional problem-solving skills and a commitment to prevent widespread effects. Provide Inventor subject matter expertise to the team for unique-case situations, acting as a key technical resource. Utilize deep product knowledge to answer technical questions and implement workarounds for clients' special requirements. Establish and communicate temporary bug workarounds when required to expedite fixing customers' work processes. Act as technical mentor, use experience and historical knowledge of code to assist team members in defining and resolving difficult or emergency issues, embodying the role of a knowledgeable guide. Work with Product Owner and/or Product Manager/Team to understand and help refine functional requirements for new products or upgrades and have a clear understanding of what is the Definition of Done. Support team agile processes by helping to breakdown larger problems, properly size and estimate complexity, remove technical blockers, and help define clarity of each feature delivery.

Minimum education/experience requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field and 7 years of experience in the job offered or in a software engineering-related occupation.

Skill Requirements: Position requires at least 7 years of experience in each of the following skills:

  • Mentor team members through demonstrating understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and design patterns, as well as the C++/C# language.
  • Lead the team in utilizing the Win32 API to address issues and challenges utilizing knowledge of Windows infrastructure.
  • Serve as technical lead for .NET integration, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on various Windows UI development techniques; provide guidance to junior team members on how to leverage them in desktop applications.
  • Leverage Visual Studio to write, debug, test, and profile applications and guide the team in utilizing the build tools efficiently.
  • Utilize source code version control system through Git and/or Perforce, as well as knowledge of how branches work and how change control board (CCB) operates.
  • Application add-in development, encompassing the ability to design and implement a framework that facilitates add-in loading.

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $145,662 - $194,600/year. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
