Position Overview
At Autodesk, quality is at the heart of everything we build-and the SDET team is central to that mission. We're not just writing tests; we're enabling our engineers, product managers, and designers to ship features faster, with confidence and craftsmanship.
As our Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you'll be a champion for the user experience and a strategic quality partner in the software development lifecycle. You'll help elevate how we test, how fast we move, and how well we deliver.
Responsibilities
As a Senior SDET, you'll wear two hats-tester and builder. You'll:
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ship high-quality features on time
- Own manual and automated test plans for key areas of the application
- Build and scale automation frameworks using tools like Cypress, Playwright, Jest, Selenium, or Appium
- Identify, track, and communicate bugs while leading bug bashes and quality checkpoints
- Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub/GitLab, CircleCI, or Jenkins
- Guide the team on functional and automation best practices
- Design reusable, modular test components to boost reliability and speed
- Peer-review automation code, suggest improvements, and mentor junior team members
- Partner with product and engineering to define what done and excellent look like
- Quantify and track quality through dashboards and metrics
Minimum Qualifications
We value skills, curiosity, and collaboration over checking every box. That said, success in this role looks like:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, Python, C++, or a similar language
- Hands-on experience in building and maintaining automation test suites
- Familiarity with version control and code review tools like GitHub or GitLab
- Experience working in agile environments with fast iteration cycles
- Comfort running tests at scale, in parallel, and in modern CI/CD environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Visual testing tools like Applitools or Percy
- Mobile automation testing (Appium)
- API automation and load/performance testing

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $79,500 and $116,600. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
