Position Overview

Come join the Autodesk Tandem product team to transform how buildings are designed, built, and operated. Up to 50% of operational carbon emissions come from buildings, and 30% of energy is wasted due to poor design and operating decisions. At Autodesk Tandem, we're on a mission to make the world better by empowering building operators with their data. Autodesk is hiring a Senior Principal Software Engineer and Architect who has experience building modern cloud services. You will report to the Director of Tandem Insights in this remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Design a new cloud-based software system for data analytics, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
  • Accelerate a new team's development by diving in and writing code. Take a hands-on approach to propel progress throughout the product lifecycle
  • Conduct code reviews to maintain high code quality standards, and mentor team members on best practices
  • Partner with developers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to turn high-level requirements into product enhancements that are delivered to customers incrementally and continually
  • Document and present your ideas and solutions accurately and thoroughly to a variety of audiences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or similar field
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in software development
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, along with a deep understanding of software design principles and patterns
  • Proven ability to design and architect scalable, reliable, secure distributed systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and to articulate complex technical concepts clearly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building production data streaming pipelines
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other building systems data
  • Experience with Golang
  • Experience building, deploying, and orchestrating containerized workloads

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $160,800 and $260,150. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
