Responsibilities: Direct daily operations of department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards and setting deadlines. Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems. Lead, develop and mentor a team of experienced content designers and technical writers to implement software systems that leverage user-centered design principles. Shape software product direction from ideation to post-launch, utilizing UX background and knowledge of the end-to-end software development lifecycle. Create content touchpoints to offer a cohesive experience and engage developers from different verticals such as manufacturing, construction, and entertainment. Design and evaluate alternative solutions to choose the best approach. Compose technical and highly detailed documents using text, diagrams, illustrations, and/or prototypes to support the implementation of design proposals. Work across the company to drive content cohesion and platform adoption with respect to user-centered design techniques. Collaborate with product teams on design strategy with respect to the production of technical white papers, demonstration examples, and other technical collateral required for product introductions and ongoing marketing. Craft outstanding user interface copy that helps our customers succeed in their goals and understand the status of the services they are running. Facilitate presentations and discussions with users, developers, and product marketers to drive resolution on proposed features and functionality. Provide training in user-centered design methods. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Telecommuting is permitted.

Minimum education/experience requirements: Master's degree in Human-Centered Design, Design Strategy, Applied Computer Science, or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a UI/UX design-related occupation. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Telecommuting is permitted.

Skill Requirements: Position requires at least 2 years of experience in each of the following skills:

  • Experience crafting effective content design strategies in product workflows and ecosystems that meet user needs and business goals.
  • Experience practicing human centered design to understand user needs, gather insights, and prototype explorations to inform content decisions and optimize user experiences.
  • Experience applying information architecture, taxonomy, and/or effective writing principles to help structure content and improve wayfinding in product experiences.
  • Experience composing user interface texts and/or technical information for software documentation using Figma, or alternate design tools to draft content prototypes.
  • Experience using metrics and data to manage projects, workflows and/or teams for effective collaboration and delivery.
  • Experience managing, crafting, and contributing to editorial guidelines and the content design system that align with short- and long-term company goals.
  • Experience partnering with designers, engineers, product managers and leadership to design and deliver content in rapid iteration cycles.
  • Experience facilitating presentations and discussions with users and leadership to drive alignment and design delivery.

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $198,152 - $250,000/year. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
