Position Overview

Are you passionate about design, and have a keen interest in 3D modelling or visualization?

We're seeking a creative and experienced Senior User Experience Designer for immediate hire. We offer a unique opportunity join a multi-disciplinary team developing sketching, modelling, animation and visualization tools for product and automotive design.

You would have a command of interaction design principles, and a strong experience in generating, testing, and refining ideas, from concept to implementation.

Based in Toronto, you will be reporting to a Director, Experience Design

  • Innovation: You will push creativity and challenge conventional thinking to solve a large assortment of design problems
  • Research Leadership: You will lead qualitative research to uncover market opportunities, understanding user needs, behaviours, and attitudes
  • Design Excellence: You will co-create elegant user-centric experiences that delight niche professional users. Communicate UX/UI through user flows, wireframes, and visual design. Ensure consistency across our experiences and products. Bring order & simplicity to complex interactions; be able to distil complex ideas to their essence. Contribute to development of internal design systems
  • Prototyping & Validation: You will craft functional prototypes and conduct usability tests to validate design concepts. Use both quick and extensive evaluation methods based on project needs
  • Collaborative Influence: You will work intimately with XD researchers, engineers, designers, and management to help align product vision, strategy, and execution with customer research insights. Collaborate closely with developers to ensure that the design intent is feasible and maintained throughout our entire development cycle
  • Effective Communication: You will present research findings and designs compellingly to internal and external teams and stakeholders at all levels

Minimum Qualifications

  • Design Expertise: 5+ years of professional experience in human-centered design, Industrial Design, Transportation design, other relevant fields
  • Driven to create beautiful interfaces and user experiences. Exceptional portfolio, demonstrating a keen sense of visuals and problem-solving skill. Ability to prototype intended solutions at various levels of fidelity
  • Development Process: Demonstrable understanding of modern and agile software development processes and concerns as they relate to design
  • Data-Driven: Experience in designing solutions based on customer data and insights.
  • 3D Familiarity: Capable of using modeling tools pertaining to polygon, subdivision, surfacing or animation
  • User-centric: Ability to work in a user-centered development environment, where designs are created, iterated, and developed within a highly collaborative cross functional team
  • Start to Finish: Ability to solve complex problems and drive projects from concept to conclusion; work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities with direction and/or feedback from various stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in developing experiences across platforms (desktop, web, mobile, XR)
  • Experience in designing for complex creative applications, 3D tools, animation and/or visualization tools
  • Understanding of the Industrial and/or Automotive Design Processe
  • Experience using Game Engines and rendering technology
  • Experience using assemblies and CAD packages.
  • Experience with QML, Qt or popular front-end libraries such as Angular2 or React.
  • Experience working with AI & ML teams and informing product and design decisions within those teams.
